This is why we feel like we can never trust any of our local Triumph dealerships.

Thought it would be cool to pamper the old Thruxton R and take it back to its dealership of origin for a good look-over and 20k service now that it’s a decade old and just sits on a paddock stand in my office.

Goes in leak free (for seven years) and comes back profusely leaking oil.

Well at least the valve clearances are back in spec.

I know what the fix is, I can do it myself, but when I decide to splurge and let someone else worry about it for me I want it to go that way.

Do better, Triumph dealerships.

The original Thruxton R meets the Thruxton RS Ton Up daily rider successor.

Honestly? Still love the original Thruxton R when there were no other bikes. But it’s now got too much personal value for it to be the every day rider anymore. A decade together will do that.

Maybe it’s because it was the one and only bike when there were no others, I definitely teared up and had a big ass smile on my face after a few miles into the shakedown to make sure it’s still in decent running order.

New bike is faster, old bike has a bit more soul from being well worn in.

Back on its feet and nearly complete. Just needs some tune tweaking, rearset tweaking, pad bedding, and for its own Cor...

A common corner that is cut on US and Canadian based builds is that owners will have a fantastic looking headlight and daytime running light that is never visible due to US regulations.

Today that ends for our Bonneville Bobber TFC.

Euro spec left switchcube swap instantly makes it 50% more wicked looking when rolling up with that fantastic looking OEM headlight.

Now to get started with the same exact swap on the new Thruxton Ton Up on the bike lift.

I had always been annoyed with prior BMW builds because the bikes often had a really great looking daytime running light from the factory that was unavailable to use in the USA and not programmable.

But time has changed, and now they are. So the R1250RS - dubbed “Project Parts Bin 2.0” was the first to be converted to European specification with a euro left hand switchcube and programming the gauge cluster to retrofit daytime running lights. Best part? There is a hidden automatic mode that turns on the headlights when it gets dark outside!

Now to acquire the same switchcube for the Aluminum Falcon and the R NineT can get that cool mustachioed looking DRL.

Busy Saturday night and Sunday afternoon!

For the Thruxton Ton Up:

• Ducati Performance Stylema Calipers in red
• Arton Works racing windscreen
• Carbon Fiber chain guard
• DNK TuneWorks ECU tuning

For the R1250RS:
• Shortened the titanium headers by nearly 5” to pull the slip-on closer and tilted more inline with the subframe
• Removal of hangers and brackets that are no longer needed
