Battlefield AACA

Battlefield AACA It is one of 380+ chapters of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA), which was founded in 1935 and based in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

The Battlefield Region Antique Automobile Club of America was founded in 1990 in Williamson County Tennessee, and has steadily grown to about 100 current members. The AACA is made up of members sharing a common bond; the love of automobiles. Generally speaking, an antique car is defined as a car that is at least 25 years old, but owning an antique car is ***NOT*** a requirement for membership so i

f you enjoy old cars and activities related thereto, you can join us in the fun! Our members have an interesting variety of both foreign & domestic vehicles ranging from antique to current, as well as hot rods, muscle cars, customs, exotics and in some instances, “supercars”. It’s not unusual to see everything from a Model T Ford or a ‘57 Chevy to a later Model Cadillac or Corvette etc. All year long an Activities Coordinator elected by the club seeks interesting old-car events for the club to interact and enjoy together. Perhaps our biggest annual event is our Antique, Classic & Collector Car Show currently held at the Factory of Franklin in Franklin, Tennessee. This show historically draws 200+/- vehicles of all years, makes and models, including military and special interest vehicles, competing in over 30 judged classes, where we give away an interesting trophy or plaque to those whose scoring places 1st, 2nd or 3rd. Thanks to many outstanding car show and club sponsors, and the huge number of show entrants, the club is able to make charitable contributions to several worthy causes in the Williamson County area as decided each year by the AACA Board. Additionally, the club puts on a few driving events to area points of interest and historical attractions as well as visiting some private car collections not generally open for viewing by the general public. These are usually day trips lasting from several hours to a full day, but rarely require an overnight stay. Many of the members meet locally on a weekly basis for an impromptu breakfast, and also attend other area cars shows and cruise-ins as a group. We encourage members and their spouses or other family members to participate, and strive to make the club’s events and activities attractive for everyone and family-friendly, and attempt to schedule at least one activity every month. And it can be made even more fun for including you! Every month a club dinner meeting is held at Sportsman's Grille in the Cool Springs area on the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 for dinner, followed by a short business meeting. Members and guests are encouraged to attend as the camaraderie and social aspect of the dinners are as important as the meeting agenda. Meetings are conducted by the club’s elected Board members, who are inducted into office at the beginning of each year and announced formally at the club’s annual dinner banquet which is our only formal event at an area venue. Those elected Board members meet on the first Tuesday of each month to work on club business and organizing events we hope the membership will enjoy. The Club communications from the Board to the members is generally via e-mail in the form of The Battlefield Bulletin, which keeps everyone apprised on current club activities and other events in and around the middle Tennessee area that should be of interest to them as car enthusiasts. In order to become a Battlefield Region AACA chapter member, the National AACA requires membership in their National AACA. Dues for the National AACA are $45 per year, and the Battlefield Region AACA dues are $20 annually, for a total of $65, which includes spouses where applicable. Those dues can be submitted in full ($65) to the Battlefield Region AACA, at which point the club Treasurer will then forward the National AACA portion of dues at your behest. If you are a current paid National AACA member and wish to join the Battlefield Region AACA, then the local dues are just $20. Dues are paid in January and are not pro-rated; however if you join in November or December, you are considered paid for the following year. All members receive an AACA Membership Card and The Antique Automobile, an award winning 100 page full color magazine published six times per year and mailed to all AACA members, beginning in mid-January. There are many informational resources in the magazine as well as through National AACA and their website. As an AACA member, you will also be eligible to enter your car in regional and National AACA sanctioned tours and shows and compete for prestigious AACA awards. Should you have interest, you may also aspire to become a judge or filling other volunteer positions at those events. Member involvement is strongly encouraged and makes your total AACA experience more rewarding for all. More information is available on the AACA website or through the local chapter. Our hope is that you will consider joining the Battlefield Region AACA and start enjoying the benefits of membership in a local organization of like-minded old car enthusiasts dedicated to promoting the hobby and passion we all enjoy and preserving and passing on the history of the automobile in America to future generations. We invite you to consider coming to one of our meetings or events to see what we are all about, as we are confident that you will like what you see and enjoy your experience. If you would like more information about our club, please do not hesitate to reach out to our page, Website, or by phoning our Chapter Secretary directly: 773 405-8978.

Today was a HOT Franklin on the 4th with a wealth of member cars who braved the heat to share their uber-cool cars with the crowds.
Thank you to those who made the effort today.
We saw it all today. So many people enthused about our antique cars. Lots of kids paying close attention------Mom's too.
Dogs with dog "sox" to wear in the heat :)
Please enjoy the photos below in no particular order:

Many of our Battlefield Members do their own hands-on work on their cars and others to varying degrees. Being in a car club is a great way to consort with other antique car lovers and offers resources that can help you restore YOUR car. We have a pretty talented diverse bunch so if you enjoy old cars and old car activities you will likely fit right in!
As a reminder, Membership in the AACA does NOT require owning an antique car---------but I'm betting once you attend an event or 2 of this chapter, you'll want an old car of your own.
For $70/year your membership entitles you to the AACA Speedster Magazine, the club online e-mail newsletter and access to a host of events largely in the Franklin-----Middle, TN area.
You can reach out to any one on this site for membership inquiries. If you know someone who enjoys the old car hobby, be sure to invite them to one of the club dinner meetings or other functions. Guests are always welcome.
Enjoy these photos of a few members toiling away out of a labor of love.

Hello Battlefield Friends,
Last weekend was The Battlefield AACA club garage tour where we are invited into several member garage(s) (4) to enjoy their cars, projects and general man-cave unique qualities etc.
This has been a popular club activity coordinated by At-Large Member Chris Bender to see some really great cars and great spaces. This is the first of 1 or 2 more expected later this year.
This year's first garage tour offered some unexpected excitement where Member Don Potter's incredible '33 Ford Coupe suffered an engine fire as we were departing for a 2nd garage stop. Thanks to the quick actions of several club members who wisely kept a fire extinguisher in their car(s), the fire was quickly extinguished without injury to anyone involved. While unfortunate, the good news is the car is not a total loss for the damage and thanks to excellent insurance coverage with Hagerty Collector Car Insurance a claim will be made and the repairs can advance to get Don's car back on the road.
The following series of photos are from 3 of the 4 garages I was able to attend for your enjoyment.
We concluded the day's event by gathering at Martin's Bar-B-Que for lunch before everyone parted company for the day.
Many thanks to those members who were kind enough to share their neat cars and garages with the Membership.
If you're not currently in the Battlefield Region A.A.C.A. or haven't been part of an adult car club before, for a meager $70.00/year you will get the National AACA Speedster Magazine, a club newsletter with monthly activities, and an opportunity to interact with our club in some great events as an excuse to interact with old car lovers. I should note that it is not REQUIRED that you own an old car to participate in these enjoyable events---------but sure is alot more fun! Please be sure to reach out if you'd like more information.

In no particular order enjoy some of the sights of the day.
Come back often to visit this page and join us if you can-------the more the merrier!
Be sure to look for the Battlefield Members in their glorious antique cars and trucks at our next main event: Franklin on the 4th where we will be parked in downtown Franklin on Main Street from 9am-2pm. Always great fun!

This year's main event is held at the newest venue of 111 Motorcars at 111 Alpha Drive-------formerly the Barry Alexander collection we've been to in year's past.
Please be sure to SAVE THE DATE to partake in this year's show.
We can always use a few good volunteers, so if you think you and a spouse or friend might be available to help, please let us know ASAP.
I'm excited to see what this year's events will bring!
Hope to see you there.

Franklin on the 4th Antique Car Display is THIS Friday--------any vintage cars/trucks are welcome. The key is to arrive on Main Street entering near the 4th street intersection and park on BOTH sides of the road parking perpendicular to the curb.
You ***MUST*** arrive timely BEFORE 9:30am as no one will be permitted in the reserved parking area after that time----no exceptions.
Generally folks leave at the ONE-TIME exit at 2PM--------otherwise you'll be stuck there until about 8 or 9pm.
Please decorate your car with patriotic colors.
This is a great event that is usually well attended.
Bring a lawn chair, some cool drinks, sunscreen and you're HAPPPPPPY 4TH OF JULY face--------great fun.
Hope to see you there!

Good afternoon,

Many thanks to everyone who weighed in yesterday and this morning as we have tried to make the safest decision for the cars and their owners, the visitors, and Cheekwood’s staff. While none of us hoped it would come out this way, we have made the decision to cancel the 2025 Exposition of Elegance. There will be no car show, Big Band Party, or parade for this year.

We are grateful for the time and energy that you all pour into the show. You all have set a high bar of excellence, and we didn’t want to compromise that this weekend by doing anything less than what our visitors have come to expect.

Attached to this email you will find an image of this year’s Classic Car Show poster, which was again created by the talented Mattie Ree Neal. We have a limited number of posters that we would like to offer to anyone who is in the area and would like to pick one up. Just let us know and we’ll reserve one until supplies run out.

One last request for the moment – please let us know by the end of the day tomorrow, Thursday, June 26, that you have received this message. We don’t want anyone to make unnecessary trips in this heat! If there’s anything else we can do for you, please let us know. Again, we so appreciate the time that you have all spent helping us plan this show and look forward to future events.

Thank you,

Nathalie

DAY 9: After 8 days of body, trim & hardware removal, the floor/firewall has been separated from the chassis. The good news is the frame is super solid and is most of the floor save for a few thin spots that will be welded up/repaired following media blast.
The brake lines are in great shape on this 40k-mile 54 year old donor. Removal of the suspension components is next. If anyone has an internal spring compressor and pickle fork to separate ball joints I can use I'll take you up on those.
I also need 4 55gallon barrels to place the floor/firewall on for the media-blast to be able to get to everything.
Following media blast, will be clean up, epoxy prime and paint semi-gloss black. Same for the frame.
I've decided to go the LS route so will be on the hunt for a solid setup complete with harness and trans etc.
Stay tuned----------

DAY 8: With the garage tour over this past weekend and everything put away it was back to work to advance the Futura build. 455 Engine/Trans were pulled today. Why is it you can NEVER catch all the fluids!! Made a mess of the floor. At least it will all clean up when done.
A few more holes to be welded over before the body is media blasted in favor of semi-gloss black paint.
Frame/chassis teardown is next in favor of new suspension components. "Don't let the old man in---Don't let the old man in"................
