“We need to file a supplement.”

If you’ve ever had a body shop tell you this, you probably thought: hidden fee.

It’s not. It’s actually the OPPOSITE.

A supplement is an updated estimate the shop sends to your insurance after finding damage the first estimate missed. It’s a standard part of modern collision repair, and if a shop never files one, something is off.

Why it happens:

• The first estimate is written from photos or a quick outside look
• Real damage almost always lives UNDER the panels
• Once we open the car up, we find things the adjuster couldn’t see

The good news: your out-of-pocket does NOT change. You still just pay your deductible. The supplement is between the shop and the insurance.

At Drumond, when we file one on your car, you’ll see exactly what we found and why. That’s the transparency thing we talk about all the time. It’s not a slogan. It’s how we work.

Your car deductible in Massachusetts. Explained.

Most people know they have a deductible. Almost nobody knows when they actually have to pay it.

Quick recap of what’s in the slides:

• A deductible is what YOU pay before insurance covers the rest.
• Most MA drivers have $500 or $1,000.
• If the OTHER driver caused it and can be identified, their insurance pays. You pay $0.
• If you have a Collision Deductible Waiver on your policy, your deductible drops to $0 when the other driver is identified.
• Hit and run? The waiver usually doesn’t apply. You still pay.
• Limited Collision has no deductible but only covers you when you’re 50% or less at fault.
