Fender for Friday!

Here is a quick update on the Telecaster body.

Candy Cobalt Blue over Silver Metal Flake and two coats of clear.

This will be sanded and flamed, and I’ll show you the final result soon!

Rock on!

This is a 1929 Hudson. This car has an older restoration on it but still in really nice condition.

It had some right rear fender damage at the gas filler area. Fuel was washing the paint off through the years.

So this was just a quick blend repair of the right rear fender.

Sorry, as usual, I neglected to take a before picture.

The last photo shows the after picture after the repair. Blend was at about 12 o’clock at the fender radius.

It’s been a pleasure to have this car here.

Every morning when I walk into the shop it reminds me of walking into my grandma’s garage. When I was very young, I spent a lot of time at my grandmother’s house.

She had a two car garage but did not drive. My grandfather died when I was young, so she rented out the garage to her nephew.

That garage was my favorite place to hang out when I was little. In that garage, at that time, was a Model T Ford and a Model A Ford.

Smells are said to be your longest lasting memory. These early pre-war cars had a different smell than anything that came after them. I think it was a combination of paint, interior fabric, wood, rubber, and oil because they all leaked.

At any rate, that was my favorite place to be and a smell that I never forgot!

So thanks to the Hudson for the memories!

A friend donated a couple of boxes of Harley Davidson beer from Daytona Bike Week. There are nine different years, so I am boxing them up as 9 packs of singles, one of each year, and giving them away…

The second photo shows a box of nine and the years listed on the cover flap.

So stop by the shop, visit for a little bit and take a box home!

We speak both languages here fluently…Hot Rod and Harley Davidson!

My daughter Victoria Vitali asked what I wanted to do for Father’s Day.

I said:

“I haven’t had the car out yet. I’d like to get it out and get it cleaned up, maybe take it for a run around the block. And then have you to drive around.”

She said:

“You want ME to drive it?” And I said “yeah, you should know how to drive it. We don’t have to start out in the street; we could go across to the church parking lot.”

So that’s what we did and she’s a good drive anyway so I knew she would be able to adapt. It’s not a car you can just get in and drive. You need to know the car and read the road.

So a few laps around the church parking lot and she was doing great!

Limited visibility kept her nervous about going in the street so that will be the next episode!

It was a cool experience for me as well. There are only a short number of people that have driven this car.

She also brought me the cool Pontiac hood ornament in the last photo..

Super nice chrome on this one!

Great job Victoria!

Thanks for a cool, relaxing Father’s Day!

Love you!

The first two photos show the last of the candy orange parts.

The tour pack is finished, and the side bags still need sanding, buffing and assembly (coming up soon!).

In the meantime, I had this guitar body waiting in the lineup.

The first picture shows it after sanding (first primer).

Then it got re-primed and re-sanded and the second picture shows it in silver metal flake base coat.

This will sit around a little bit now between flames.

Have fun to everyone in Laconia!

Ride safe!

New old stock Hurst Airheart disc break calipers and master cylinder with chrome mounting brackets, lines, spacers and fittings.

I’ve had these for some years now. Got them from my old friend Fisher. He bought these new in 1978 at the Triumph of Wellesley Chopper Shop.

They sold motorcycle parts and accessories and the man at the counter at the time was the late great Paul Aldrich.

These were obviously designed for a dual disc motorcycle front end but they could also be used on the front of a hot rod.

Glad to have cool old stuff on the shelf.

Thanks Blackie!

I got this diamond tank at the Keene Swap Meet a couple weeks ago.

I know…it looks like house paint, but you have to look beyond that. The front mount is damaged. No big deal.

What I really like about this particular diamond tank is that the side panels are only 2 and a half inches at the peak giving it a super low profile look.

At 24 inches long it needs a stretched backbone frame.

I might have to build a Digger style bike for it.

It will be interesting to strip it and see it there is a maker’s mark underneath.

But as you can see in last two photos, I am working on a bunch of other motorcycle parts for customers here so my stuff will wait a while…

A diamond in the rough!

Will let you know what we find underneath…

My friend Tom Coco sent me these photos of his 59 Panhead. This is the fender I did last fall and the tanks I did the year before. That new old stock parking light looks cool on the front fender.

The bags look like they could use a little attention. Maybe we will be doing those next year.

Have a good ride Tom! Be safe out there. All the roads suck!

Here’s a wall from the office. A lot of history here! If a picture says a thousand words, I don’t have to say anything.

Zoom in, check them out and enjoy!

This Sunday the 19th is the Stafford Motorcycle Swap Meet in Connecticut.

Hope it doesn’t rain though it doesn’t look good!

See you there!
