A little history about Forte's Parts Connection.
I opened Forte's December 27th 1981.
Went direct with Doug Nash Engineering Spring of 1983.
I purchased a new 1983 Z28 just before Memorial Day. I took it to New England Dragway and raced a new 1983 Mustang GT. I had an automatic 700R4 and the Mustang had a T5. I had the jump on him with the automatic and was about 10-12 car length lead. At the 1/8 mile he was catching me, about 1000ft he was beside me and at the finish line he had a solid 3 car lead... very impressive.
Monday morning I call Ford SVO about becoming a dealer. No, we have 2 dealers now in Boston. I replied, but they aren't stocking or selling anything.
I called a few more times. I visited the Ford booth at SEMA and got to meet a few in sales. 1985 I went direct with Ford SVO !!!
At that point Forte's was direct with,

Anyways, the reason I bring this history up is last Friday ( 2 days ago) marks 30 years since I saw the Tremec 3550 for a Ford Mustang at the SEMA Show. I met with Walt Stanton from Tremec. I told him how the Ford Tremec could be made into a GM 5-speed Tremec. No no no.
That was his position as head of marketing at Tremec. I took his card and returned to Waltham for work. On Monday (that's 30 years ago tomorrow) I called Tremec and spoke again with Walt. " Remember me, I was talking about making the Tremec bolt up to a GM bellhousing"? Yeah but that won't work! I replied but I know this will work! You should talk to people who know me. Try Red Roberts at McLeod and Mike Norcia at Ram.
Walt called back about 20 minutes later, what are you doing next Tuesday?
I can't believe that was 30 years ago .

Btw, Next month Forte's Parts Connection will have finished 41 years in business.. WTH?
