Different and fun project we have going on!
Customer came to us with worries of a cracked block on this 454 big block Chevy that was in their boat. With the engine out we began the tear down to find the problem!
We drained over 32 QUARTS of oil/water mixture from the engine oil pan (this engine is only supposed to have 8 quarts of oil) Cylinder 2 was FULL of water indicating a blown head gasket or cracked block for that cylinder. We removed the heads and found the failure point was in fact the cylinder block cracked. Due to the massive amount of water in the engine we also found some bent pushrods due to hydrolock.
Rebuilt heads are ready and a new short block with new valvetrain components are on their way and soon this customer will be ready for summer days out on the lake!
Stay tuned for updates!
