I guess it's time to officially make this post especially for the ones not friends with me on my personal page.
Stopped by there last week and the demolition of the barn had started, stopped by there yesterday and the barn was completely torn down to make way for a new subdivision.
I wanted to take a second and thank you guys who helped make that place what it was. The track opened in 2012 and from the day I took it over in 2018, it became a important place to me and my family. Because of that track, I made friendships that will last a lifetime.
Because of that track, we..not me, changed many of lives. The Camp Cocoon race and Autism Awareness race that both raised well over $3000 to change the lives of many kids. The Breast Cancer Awareness that we were able to donate nearly $2000 to a lady fighting that awful cancer and let's not forget the year we adopted a family for Christmas. The toy and school supply races that we were able to give kids a Christmas who otherwise wouldn't have had one. Or sending many kids to school on the first day with everything they needed. All within the community. We were able to see where our money went and I hope those kids will always know this little circle of dirt and old barn was so much more than a RC track. It was family and we always came together for what we were doing.
We made a difference in the lives of many and we made a difference in the hobby in this area.
You guys who made the trips from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, New York, Kentucky, Alabama, the many from Florida over the years just to name a few, thank you.
I can't thank you guys enough who supported this place from day 1 and especially when I took the place over back in 2018. I tried to do this the right way and while I failed at times, you guys were always there the next week- spending your hard earned money and supporting a hobby.
It was a important place to me and my family. My dad was my biggest fan and critic all at the same time, but when he passed back in September of 2018- the support from you guys in this area will be something that I'm forever thankful of. It meant more to me than you will ever know.
With that and from the bottom of my heart, thank you for all the memories. Thank you for your continued support, the friendships made (and some lost) and the many laughs we had over the past 11 years. While the track may no longer be there, the memories and lives changed, the good and the bad times will always be something that I cherish. Hope yall have a happy New Year.
CJ, Maria, Cam and Benny.
