The Car Care Council offers these fuel-saving tips:
1. Vehicle gas caps -- About 17 percent of the vehicles on the roads have gas caps that are either damaged, loose or are missing altogether, causing 147 million gallons of gas to vaporize every year.
2. Under inflated tires -- When tires aren't inflated properly it's like driving with the parking brake on and can cost a mile or two per gallon.
3. Worn spark plugs -- A vehicle can have either four, six or eight spark plugs, which fire as many as 3 million times every 1,000 miles, resulting in a lot of heat and electrical and chemical erosion. A dirty spark plug causes misfiring, which wastes fuel. Spark plugs need to be replaced as recommended by the manufacturer.
4. Dirty air filters -- An air filter that is clogged with dirt, dust and bugs chokes off the air and creates a "rich" mixture -- too much gas being burned for the amount of air, which wastes gas and causes the engine to lose power. Replacing a clogged air filter can improve gas mileage by as much as 10 percent, saving about 20 cents a gallon.

Are You Ready for The Road?
An average of 13,000 Americans are killed between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day, some as a result of unperformed vehicle maintenance, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Each year, neglected maintenance leads to more than 2,600 deaths, nearly 100,000 disabling injuries and more than $2 billion in lost wages, medical expenses and property damage.
Most mechanical failures can be traced to neglected maintenance. For example, the U. S. Department of Transportation reports the leading cause of mechanical breakdown on our nation's highways is overheating, a condition that is easily avoidable. Other deficiencies that are simple to detect include low antifreeze/coolant, worn or loose drive belts and defective cooling system hoses.
Checking tire pressure and inflating a tire costs nothing, yet an average of 21 percent of cars inspected in check lanes during National Car Care Month have under inflated tires. This can lead to a blowout and a serious accident.

5 PREVENTANTIVE MAINTENANCE TIPS FOR SUMMER
Are you thinking of summer vacations? Taking a long drive down to the beach? Alternatively, maybe, you just want to get in the car, turn on the AC and go for a spin. Whatever your plans, you need to remember to care for your car during these coming months when the weather can see extremely high temperatures. Auto repair is probably not the first thing you want to think of in the summer, but your car can break down more easily and, at the very least, it can be agreed that finding yourself stuck on some highway with a tire blow out or having to finish a long trip without a functional car AC system is not the preferred way to spend a summer day.

In the summer, the sweltering temperatures can make daily driving harder on your vehicle. You need to pay attention to certain things to make your car summer-ready, so a little preventative maintenance can go a long way towards making your car fully functional during these months. From checking your air conditioner to making sure it cools properly, making sure your engine runs smoothly, efficiently, and cool, it is helpful and preventative to prioritize summer auto maintenance.

COOL THE ENGINE

High summer temperatures can heat your car’s engine even more. In fact, an overheated engine is one of the main causes of summer car repair issues.

Your car uses coolant, which is a special liquid used to cool down your engine. Top off your coolant levels and keep an eye on it regularly during the summer. Check and top off your coolant levels every few weeks, but if you know you have a leak or other problem, check it much more frequently. If you see a leak in a hose or under the car and it appears to be the colour of your coolant, it is time to take your car into the mechanic to have it professionally examined.

GET THE A/C CHECKED

The last thing you want to stop working is the A/C unit. Summer can be extremely hot depending on where you travel and will feel even more so without the AC working well. Get it inspected by an A/C specialist. A working A/C prioritizes comfort, which is important for drive safety.

REPLACE WIPERS

Summer can mean big summer rainstorms. Switch out your wiper blades for new ones so you will not be caught without being able to see during a storm. While you are at it, get your wash fluid filled too so it will clean your windshield of all the summer debris.

GET YOUR OIL CHANGED

In the hot summer months, you may want to change your oil more frequently. If you plan on taking long road trips, you need to get your car inspected by an auto repair specialist and you need ensure your oil is not in need of a refill or change to no compromise our vehicle’s drivability or engine, specifically.

Before you head out on a great road trip, take your car to a mechanic, and ask for a preventative maintenance inspection. The mechanics will inspect the engine thoroughly to make sure it is road ready.

CHECK THE AIR IN THE TIRES

When temperatures start to rise into the 90s, the pavement and asphalt get hotter, and this inflates your tires. Tires are at a higher risk of experiencing blowouts during these months. Check the tire pressure levels and use your vehicle’s manual to see what pressure you should keep your tires at. Be sure to check the pressure at least once a month during the hotter months of summer.

You also want to make sure you keep track of the tire rotations during the summer and be sure to visually inspect your tires and the tread life. If you notice that your tires are visibly appearing old and worn, it may be time to replace them.

BOTTOM LINE

Summer weather can be harder on your car. Maintenance the car as much as possible to prevent weather damage and practice basic preventative care to ensure your vehicle runs safely during these months your travel or experience hotter weather.

Why Is Tire Alignment Important????

With its relatively low cost and great benefits, a tire alignment is definitely a worthwhile investment. Below are a few compelling reasons why you should have your vehicle’s tires aligned regularly:

—Better driving experience: When its tires are misaligned, your vehicle will drift slightly to one side even though the steering wheel is in the center position. Having to constantly adjust your steering wheel to compensate for poor alignment can be tiring and frustrating. A tire alignment can make driving more relaxing and enjoyable.
Improved safety: Bad tire alignment causes your vehicle to pull to one side and reduces its maneuverability, which increases your risk of crashing. Additionally, it can lead to uneven tire wear and make it harder for you to control your car on slippery surfaces. Don’t put off tire alignment until it’s too late.

—Longer tire life: If your tires are properly aligned, they’ll work together in harmony and experience less friction with the road. As a result, they’ll wear at a slower rate, meaning you don’t have to replace them so often. Leaving misaligned tires unattended can considerably increase the cost of car ownership.

—Fewer costly repairs: Driving with poor tire alignment can cause other parts of your vehicle to wear out prematurely, such as the suspension and steering systems. If these components break down completely, you’re faced with a costly repair that could have been avoided with regular tire alignment services

How do I save on gas?
Don't skimp on maintenance
Your vehicle's performance depends on it being properly maintained. The owner's manual of your vehicle will tell you what maintenance is needed and when. If you have any questions, your repair shop will be able to show you the recommended maintenance for your vehicle. Follow the vehicle care guidelines outlined in your owner's manual. Not only will they improve efficiency, but they will also save you money on costly repairs in the long run.

We understand that your car is not only one of your biggest investments, but that its dependable operation is a critical part of your family’s life. With that in mind, we have straightforward, fair pricing, a comprehensive warranty on all repairs and strive to interact with our customers as if they were members of our own family.
How do I save on gas?
Replace air filters
When the engine air filter clogs with dirt, dust and bugs, it causes your engine to work harder and your vehicle becomes less fuel efficient. Replacing a clogged air filter could improve your gas mileage by as much as 10 percent and save you 15 cents a gallon. It's a good idea to have your engine air filter checked at each oil change. The Car Care Council recommends changing your vehicle's air and oil filters every three months or 3,000 miles or as specified in your owner's manual.

Tip for a day - How do I save on gas?
Keep your engine in tune
Fixing a vehicle that is out of tune or has failed an emissions test can boost gas mileage by about 4 percent. So be sure to give your vehicle regular tune-ups. You'll also want to watch out for worn spark plugs. A misfiring spark plug can reduce a vehicle's fuel efficiency by as much as 30 percent. Ensure your mechanic checks for them.

How do I save on gas?
Pump up your tires
Don't get caught driving on under inflated tires. Under inflated tires wear down more quickly, and they also lower your vehicle's gas mileage. Your vehicle's gas mileage may plummet by as much as 15 percent. Driving on under inflated tires may also reduce the life of your tires by 15 percent or more.
Check your tire pressure once a month
Buy a digital gauge and keep it in your glove box. Compare the pressure in your tires with the recommended pressure listed in your owner's manual and on the placard located in your vehicle door. Then inflate your tires as needed. Be sure to check tire pressure when your tires are cold. A good time is early in the morning after your vehicle's been idle overnight.

How to jumpstart your car
1. Connect one end of the red jumper cable to the positive terminal on your stalled car (marked with a “+” or “POS”).
2. Connect the other end of the red/positive cable to the positive terminal on the other car’s good battery.
3. Connect the black cable to the negative terminal on the good battery.
4. Connect the other end of the black cable to a clean, unpainted metal surface under your dead car’s hood. The frame is a good choice. The strut supporting your hood is another viable option. This will serve as your ground, a critical step in preventing dangerous electric shock. If you connect the black cable to the negative terminal on the bad battery, you can cause an explosion.
5. Start the good car and allow it to run for 2 to 3 minutes before attempting to start the dead car. This will allow a charge to build in the dead battery.
6. Start the dead car. If it doesn’t start up immediately, don’t continue trying the key. Instead, turn it back off, and let it charge for another few minutes. If it still won’t start after 2 or 3 tries, your car may be experiencing a more serious underlying issue, such as a battery that can’t hold a charge. If you continue to try to start your car, you may damage your ignition. It’s best to reach out to a local technician if your car is unable to start after following the steps above.

How do I save on Gas? #2
Don't top off
Don't top off when filling your vehicle's gas tank. Any additional gas is just going to slop around or seep out. Stop pumping at the first indication that your tank is full when the automatic nozzle clicks off.
Tighten up the gas cap
Gas will evaporate from the gas tank if it has an escape. Loose, missing or damaged gas caps cause 147 million gallons of gas to evaporate each year, according to the Car Care Council. So be sure to tighten up that gas cap each time you fuel up your vehicle.

How do I save on gas?

Use regular gasoline
Unless your vehicle requires premium gasoline, filling up your vehicle with high-octane gas is a waste of money. The premium gas doesn't boost your gas mileage or performance. If you're not sure what grade works best for your vehicle, your owner's manual will tell you. You can also ask your mechanic what grade to use. Using regular gasoline over high-octane gasoline could save you hundreds of dollars a year.
