City of Fostoria, Ohio is hiring!

The City of Fostoria is accepting applications for a Parks/Cemetery Laborer to help maintain our parks and cemetery grounds.

Responsibilities include mowing, trimming, planting, landscaping, assisting with burial site preparation, and operating and maintaining power tools and equipment.

Applicants must have:
• Experience using power tools and equipment
• A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• The ability to perform heavy lifting and physical work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Basic computer skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Professional and courteous communication skills

The selected candidate must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within six months of their hire date. The City will provide assistance with the required training and classes.

Previous experience in maintenance or a labor-intensive role is preferred

📣 Hey, Seneca County!

Do you have scrap tires in need of disposal?

SCGHD and the City of Fostoria will be hosting a FREE scrap tire recycling event on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Foundation Park, 1225 S. Union St., Fostoria.

Bring up to 10 passenger/light truck tires on or off the rim.

There is no cost for residents of Seneca County, but proof of residency will be required.

🚧 UPCOMING PAVING WORK 🚧

The City’s paving project is scheduled to begin tomorrow, September 23, with crews generally starting at 8:00 a.m. each day.

Below are the areas where crews are currently expected to be working:

• Sept. 23: Foundation Park
• Sept. 24: Splash Pad area, River Street and Linwood Avenue
• Sept. 25: Foundation Park, East Fremont, Michigan, Superior and Elm Court
• Sept. 28: Main Street, Splash Pad area, River Street and Linwood Avenue
• Sept. 29: Main Street, East Fremont, Michigan, Superior and Culbertson
• Sept. 30: Jones Road and Main Street
• Oct. 1: Jones Road, Plaza area, Main Street and Elm Court
• Oct. 2: Jones Road and possibly the Plaza area
• Oct. 5: Plaza area

This schedule is tentative and may change depending on the weather and the progress crews make each day. We will share daily updates through our mass notification system. Residents living in the affected areas will still be able to enter and exit their homes during the work, although brief delays may occur. Please use caution around crews and allow extra time when traveling through these areas.
