You're invited to celebrate hometown boxing legend Bobby Crabtree at a street-naming ceremony recognizing his outstanding athletic career and longtime contributions to the community.

• Location: Evangel Temple Gymnasium, 1110 S. 12th St, Fort Smith
In honor of Crabtree, honorary street signs designating Bobby Crabtree Boulevard will be placed on Towson Avenue at South L Street and South M Street.
Known as "The Fighting Hillbilly," Crabtree compiled a professional boxing record of 93 cruiserweight and heavyweight bouts from 1982 to 2002, earning 56 victories, including 51 by knockout. Following his boxing career, he continued to serve the Fort Smith community by operating a one-man auto body shop on Towson Avenue for 37 years.
The event will feature remarks from community leaders, appearances by the True Grit Trail reenactors, and barbecue provided by JC's BBQ while supplies last.
