⚡️ Alternator Replacement Done Right ⚡️

This one was definitely not your average alternator job. The location alone made it tight to access, but there were a couple extra challenges along the way…

The case ground bolt was cross-threaded, which made it a pain to remove without damaging anything. Took my time, worked it out properly, and applied anti-seize on reassembly to prevent that issue in the future 👍

On top of that, one of the alternator mounting bolts couldn’t simply be pulled out — it would hit a support mount behind it. Most forum advice says you have to remove the support plate to get it out… but instead of turning this into a bigger job for the customer, I found a way around it and got it done without removing extra components 💪

Got everything installed, tightened down properly, and verified the system is charging strong again 🔋 (13.2V at the battery)

Finished up in a timely manner and got her back on the road with no issues ✅

Customer was extremely happy with the work and the honesty — already asking about coming back soon for spark plugs and coil packs 🔧

Completed a spark plug replacement on a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta 1.8L today.

During the service, I observed oil present on the threads of multiple spark plugs, with cylinder 3 showing the most buildup (see photo).

This can be an indication of a valve cover gasket beginning to wear, which may allow oil to enter the spark plug wells over time.

At this stage, the vehicle is still operating normally, but it’s something to be aware of and monitor moving forward.

The customer was very pleased with the service and appreciated the clear communication and transparency throughout the job.
