FORT MILL, S.C. – March 7, 2022. Continental, one of the largest automotive suppliers and tire manufacturers in the world, is displaying its latest tires and digital tire monitoring solutions at the TMC Annual Meeting in booth #447. Making their trade show debut are three long haul tires: Conti EcoPlus HS3+ steer, HDL2 DL+ drive, and Conti HTL 3 trailer. The tires are ideal for fleets who need high mileage performance coupled with fuel efficiency. In addition, the drive tire specially developed for one of the country’s largest LTL carriers, the Conti HDL 3 LTL, is now available to the wider market. The company will also display its ContiConnect Yard terminal-based and ContiConnect Live over-the-road tire monitoring solutions.

The Conti EcoPlus HS3+ steer tire delivers 27 percent better mileage than its predecessor, based on 9 month field tests. The tire is optimized for maximum mileage performance, lowest overall fuel consumption, and durability for retreading – the key aspects for Lowest Overall Driving Cost in this segment. It features a technologically advanced cap compound to provide improved cut and tear resistance for increased mileage, balanced with excellent rolling resistance for fuel efficiency. The Conti 3G casing provides excellent heat dispersion for increased retreadability. The tire is also designed to provide a comfortable ride, as drivers on long haul routes may spend many hours per day in their vehicles.

The Conti EcoPlus HS3+ is SmartWay verified, CARB compliant, and is covered by a seven year, three retread warranty. It has a 19/32” tread depth and is currently available in the following sizes: 11R22.5 Load Range G and H, 295/75R22.5 Load Range G and H, 11R24.5 Load Range H, and 285/75R24.5 Load Range H.

The HDL2 DL+ drive tire features new tread cap/base compounds to provide improved wear performance, extending original tire life. The 32/32” deep lug tread depth provides high mileage and low cost per mile. This is coupled with patented innovative groove technology for minimal stone retention, extending casing life. The tire is built on the Conti 3G casing for maximum retreadability. A matching retread is available.

The HDL2 DL+ is covered by a seven year, three retread warranty. It has a 32/32” tread depth and is currently available in the following sizes: 11R22.5 Load Range G and H, 295/75R22.5 Load Range G, 11R24.5 Load Range H, and 285/75R24.5 Load Range H. The 295/75R22.5 size enables fleets who spec this tire size on steer tires to facilitate easier casing management.

The Conti HTL 3 high mileage trailer tire delivers improved mileage versus Continental’s most fuel efficient trailer tire, the Conti EcoPlus HT3. Having tires focused on different performance aspects allows fleets to select the best tire for their business. The Conti HTL 3 features advanced tread compounding to balance cut and tear resistance with optimized rolling resistance, satisfying EPA Smartway and CARB requirements. Its durable sidewall construction defends against curbing, cuts and abrasions. The tire is built on the Conti 3G casing for maximum retreadability.

The Conti HTL 3 is covered by a seven year, three retread warranty. It has a 13/32” tread depth and is currently available in the following sizes: 11R22.5 Load Range G, 295/75R22.5 Load Range G, and 11R24.5 Load Range G.

The Conti HDL 3 LTL was specially developed in conjunction with one of North America’s largest LTL carriers for its single axle drive vehicles. The tire delivers maximum fuel efficiency and high removal miles from advanced tread compounding. The design resists irregular wear caused from the high-torque single drive position, including heel-toe wear, thanks to rigid tread blocks that effectively control movement. It also features maximum stone ejection, superior traction, and even wear. It is SmartWay verified and built on the Conti 3G casing for maximum retreadability. A complementary retread, the ContiTread HDL 3 LTL-R is also available. Balancing fuel efficiency and outstanding mileage performance, ContiTread HDL 3 LTL-R is best in class.

The Conti HDL 3 LTL is covered by a seven year, three retread warranty. It has a 24/32” tread depth and is currently available in the following sizes: 11R22.5 Load Range G, 295/75R22.5 Load Range G, and 11R24.5 Load Range H.

With the Conti 3G casing, Continental’s wide, standardized casing construction allows for retreads up to 245 millimeters in width. The casing is ideal for multiple retread use in both long haul drive and/or long haul trailer applications. Continental offers a wide portfolio of drive and trailer retread patterns, including SmartWay verified and CARB compliant options.

The tires are also available as an intelligent tire pre-equipped with TPMS sensors, upon customer request. Maintaining proper tire inflation is critical, allowing fleets to extend the tread life, as well as maintain casing integrity for future retreading. Proper tire pressure also improves safety and handling, and helps prevent tire blowouts. Continental offers a full portfolio of digital tire monitoring systems under the ContiConnect umbrella to meet different fleet needs. Components of all systems can be combined to take advantage of different functionalities.

ContiConnect Yard Reader is Continental's terminal-based digital tire monitoring solution for commercial fleets, displaying tire pressure and temperature data for every vehicle in the fleet in a single web portal. It is ideal for fleets whose trucks or buses return to the terminal daily or multiple times per week.

ContiConnect Live is Continental’s over-the-road, real-time digital tire monitoring solution. It displays tire pressure and temperature for every vehicle in the fleet, regardless of the vehicle’s location, and includes a GPS location for tire alerts. It is ideal for real-time monitoring of multiple vehicles in any location, delivering actionable data even when vehicles are out on the road.

ContiConnect Live Integrated is available with telematics partners for additional ease of use. Zonar, the leader in smart fleet technology, offers the integration of the Continental bird's eye-view into Zonar’s fleet management system. This integration generates tire pressure alerts directly to Zonar's web portal, Ground Traffic Control®, where dispatchers and technicians can see all wheel positions on a vehicle in real-time, including which tires are low. Drivers can also view the vehicle’s current tire pressure on their in-cab tablet.

One tire, four seasons: Continental launches new tire for airport ground support operations

• Product launch: Continental brings all-weather-tires ContiRV20 All Season to the market for airport ground handling vehicles
• New tire tread pattern profile ensures maximum ground contact and traction in all weather conditions

Hanover, February, 28th, 2022. Industrial activities every minute in all weather conditions: Achieving maximum logistical performance is part of the daily business at airports. Aircrafts are loaded and unloaded, and baggage transporters bring and collect the passengers’ luggage and ensure smooth airport operations. Numerous ground operation vehicles are therefore in use to ensure everything runs smoothly. This includes winter weather conditions like snow and slush. Now, Continental has launched a new all season tire for airport ground handling vehicles that spares fleet operators from changing the tires every season. That saves time and costs, since there is no need for a tire change.

ContiRV20 All Season: Perfect for small airport tow tractors and baggage loaders

The ContiRV20 All Season extends Continental’s industrial tire portfolio. Matthias-Stephan Müller, product line manager Material Handling at Continental Commercial Specialty Tires: “This tire is particularly designed for ground operation fleets within the airport environment, such as smaller tow tractors and baggage loaders. We are pleased to be able to offer the ContiRV20 All Season tire to the market.“ All tires of this product line are marked with the M+S symbol, which stands for “Mud and Snow”. This is an indicator for tires that are permitted for use within these weather conditions.

Three rib tread with multiple sipes offers maximum ground contact and traction

While creating the ContiRV20 All Season tire, Continental developers were focused on the three rib tread. Müller: “The high quantity of interlocked tread blocks increases the traction and improves the braking performance in both summer and winter conditions. Angled pocket sipes are not only used for optimum traction performance, but also provide the best possible steering capabilities.” There is no need for a seasonal tire change anymore. The tire is produced in Continental’s own production site for Industrial Material Handling tires in Otrokovice, Czech Republic. Continental offers the tire in sizes 16‘‘ and 16.5‘‘.

Continental Celebrates 150 Year Anniversary

• Founded in 1871 in Hanover, Germany as a rubber manufacturer, a decade and a half before the first automobile was manufactured
• Continental is now one of the largest high-tech corporations in the automotive industry and a top four global tire manufacturer
• 15 decades of helping customers see the opportunities of “The Future In Motion”

FORT MILL, S.C. – April 12, 2021. Continental, one of the largest tire and automotive technology suppliers in the world, is celebrating its 150th year in business in 2021. The company was founded in Hannover, Germany, in 1871. Over the next 15 decades, Continental transformed from a local manufacturer of tires and soft rubber products to an international technology company.

Today, Continental has nearly 15,000 employees in the United States. Worldwide, three out of every four vehicles on the road are equipped with the company’s tires or automotive technologies. An estimated one billion people place their trust in Continental every day.

Throughout this year, Continental will celebrate the company’s esteemed history with stories on how it became a driving force of technological progress. Before cars were even invented, the company began by manufacturing horse “hoof buffers” along with solid tires for carriages and bicycles. In 1904, Continental was the first company in the world to develop automobile tires with a patterned tread, and four years later invented the detachable rim. On the year of its 50th anniversary, in 1921, Continental produced its first commercial truck tires, and became the first German company to produce tires reinforced with pliable cords rather than linen fabric. Six years later, it launched the very first pneumatic tractor tire in Europe.

(Did you know? Until 1926, tires were white due to the use of natural rubber latex. Carbon black was added in 1926 as a reinforcing agent to give the tire more resistance to wear and aging. It also gave tires their new characteristic color: black.)

The following decades saw continued innovation. In 1955, Continental was the first company to develop air springs for trucks and buses, and the first German company to start manufacturing tubeless car tires, which it had patented after World War II. By the 1960s, widespread production of radial tires had begun, and Continental employed 26,800 people. It revolutionized the solid tire segment, which are used on forklift trucks, airport vehicles, and other heavy-duty industrial applications, with its ContiSuperElastic tires, leading to what is today the industry standard abbreviation for the category: CSE. In 1967, the company opened the Contidrom test track, which is still used as a global standard today in tandem with the Uvalde Proving Grounds in Texas, where tires have been tested since 1959.

By 1988, the company had almost doubled in size, employing 45,900 people around the world. It had acquired Uniroyal and Semperit in Europe, and General Tire in the United States. Within the next 10 years, the company reinforced its position as a global tire manufacturer by adding sites in Central and South America, Africa, and Eastern Europe. After a 10-year hiatus, Continental re-entered the OTR construction and mining tires segment in 2015, and shortly thereafter restarted production of radial agricultural tires.

Continental has been recognized as a premium tire manufacturer throughout its history, and the tradition continues today, expanded with additional technologies. In 2019, Continental was one of the two most recognized brands in U.S. Consumer Reports' top tire picks, tying for first place in the all-season light truck category and taking second place in three others. The same year, the company’s commercial fleet monitoring solution, ContiConnect® Yard Reader, was named a top new product by Constructech, Construction Equipment, and Today’s Trucking magazines.

Continental expands General Tire portfolio for earthmoving industry

• The General TE95 provides continuous traction performance in road and construction applications
• V.ply technology and an optimized tire contour provide high stability
• Complementary addition to the existing General Tire series

FORT MILL, SC. March 30, 2021. Continental is expanding its General Tire portfolio for the earthmoving industry with the addition of the General TE95 tire. The tire impresses with high traction, especially for soil compaction work in road and construction applications, and is equipped with V.ply technology. The first General Tire earthmoving tires were launched in early 2020 - the portfolio now includes a total of 33 sizes in the United States and Canada, which are used on wheel loaders, dozers, dump trucks and scrapers as well as graders, skid steer loaders and backhoes.

General TE95: High stability and traction performance

The optimized tire contour of the General TE95 ensures even pressure distribution on construction vehicles, such as single-drum compactors, which keeps construction site soil smooth during compaction. Because sandy, muddy or stony soil can prove challenging, the General TE95's geometric, robust tread blocks were also specifically designed to provide continuous traction performance in a variety of soil conditions.

Damage resistance and high load-bearing capacity thanks to V.ply technology

Its V.ply construction technology ensures strong sidewalls, providing optimal protection against punctures and cuts. V.ply technology combines the advantages of cross-ply tires and radial tires, by integrating a weave pattern of different strands laid out at special angles. Since steel cord does not provide an optimal bond between the carcass and the rubber casing, V.ply technology uses a high-strength polymer. The carcass of a General Tire V.ply tire consists of up to 22 layers of diagonal fibers embedded in three wire cores and precisely aligned in a V-pattern. Unlike conventional cross-ply tires, the intersecting textile layers of a V.ply tire are arranged at an angle of approximately 30 degrees. Together with the sidewall layers, this provides increased tire stiffness and enables a higher level of stability and durability during sudden movements and cornering.

Comprehensive product portfolio for earthmoving applications

The General TE95 complements the existing General Tire Earthmoving range. As of now, Continental's tire portfolio for the earthmoving industry in the United States and Canada consists of the following tires:
• General TE65: Low aspect ratio and wide base for wheel loaders and dozers used in heavy-duty digging and loading operations
• General TE191: Heavy-duty wheel loader tires for digging and loading operations
• General TE6: Bidirectional L3 tire ideal for skid steer loaders
• General TE188: Multi-purpose earthmover tire for ADT, RDT, loader and scraper applications
• General TE132: Wide base tire designed specifically for dump trucks in rough off-road conditions and shorter distance
• General TE11/A: Rugged tire design, for grading and loading work
• General Skid Steer SD: For standard to light duty skid steer loader operations
• General Skid Steer HD: For heavy duty skid steer loader operations
• General Skid Steer XHD: For extra heavy duty skid steer loader applications and varying surface conditions
• General Backhoe HD: All around backhoe tire suitable for varying surface conditions
• General Backhoe XHD: For heavy duty backhoe applications and challenging tasks
• General TE95: Uniform pressure distribution thanks to wide base, ideal for compaction work with compactors
