M/V Andante

M/V Andante M/V Andante is a 1985 CHB Present 42 Aft Cabin Sundeck Trawler. She is powered by twin Ford Lehman 135 naturally aspirated diesels.

She is the flagship of Boys With Boats founder Jeremy Pettus.

Rain, a flowering Royal Palm, and oral surgery prevented any painting this week aboard M/V Andante. However, we pulled the aft skirting and got some polishing done. There’s some battle scars, but they add character.

More progress aboard M/V Andante. Added another coat to the vertical surfaces on the aft deck, and began working forward. Also removed the aft skirting to access the rear gunwales. It’s nice to have a helping hand.

It’s also time to renew her transom graphics. I can pull the old and replace new, but I’m considering a wrap for a more classic look.

Admittedly, we don’t use our dinette very often, an it’s been a couple years since I had the cushion covers dry cleaned, but I wanted a refresh without investing a ton of money. My solution? Inexpensive, stretchy, machine washable slip covers. I had an Amazon gift card from my birthday, so my benefactor gave me a dinette refresh. Before/After

Nothing happens with a schedule. The plastic hose barb on the raw water connection to the AC strainer split, requiring a mad dash to Home Depot before they closed and the street floods. Replaced both intake and output, but am grateful it happened now and not two weeks ago; this isn’t something Josh could’ve diagnosed or repaired.

In 1985 indirect accent lighting was a luxury feature aboard yachts, and was usually accomplished with low voltage fluorescent lights. At some point in Andante’s past those fixtures failed and most were removed. Their wiring, however, remained and new LED technology, along with Amazon sourcing made for an inexpensive replacement easily accomplished and controlled by switches that have been dormant for some time.
