This past week at the Mustang Club meeting, we were talking about this article. Great info if anybody didn’t know. 
Ford built thousands of green Mustangs for a giveaway that never happened.
In 1990, a major promotion tied to 7-Up planned to give away specially configured Ford Mustang LX 5.0 convertibles. The cars wore Deep Emerald Green paint with white leather interiors and white convertible tops, creating one of the most recognizable Fox-body combinations ever offered.
But before the promotion could happen as planned, the giveaway was canceled.
Ford had already committed to producing the cars, so instead of disappearing, the special Mustangs were offered through regular Ford dealerships. A total of 4,103 were ultimately produced, according to widely cited production records.
Although enthusiasts commonly call them the “7-Up Mustangs,” the production cars carried no 7-Up logos or special badging identifying them with the canceled promotion.
What began as a marketing giveaway accidentally became one of the Fox-body Mustang era’s most memorable factory combinations.
