Before anything else, I want to sincerely thank everyone who supported me during my time at Casey’s. The community, the customers, the relationships — I appreciate it more than you know.

Full disclosure.

The Casey’s you’ve known for the last 2½ years is no more.
Let me explain.

In February 2023, I began the process of purchasing Casey’s from the current owners. I approached it slowly and deliberately. I brought in two additional partners—my brother and my father—to help make this work.

We developed big ideas. Real plans. A vision for what Casey’s could become.

In October 2023, we entered into a legally binding contract to lease and operate the business, with a purchase closing scheduled two years out. That first year, I had to shift from a civil engineering mindset to an entrepreneurial one—learning every part of owning and operating a business, the good and the bad.

By year two, things were working. We showed real growth and profitability. The ideas were finally coming to fruition.

Throughout this process, I repeatedly pushed my partners to engage in securing financing for the purchase. That was the reason for having partners. Unfortunately, while contract details and negotiations were shared extensively, the responsibility to read, understand, and prepare was not met.

When it came time to perform, my partners were unprepared.

On September 1, 2025—just six weeks before closing—I was informed that they were backing out of the contract. Illegally. That decision left me personally exposed to a $2.6 million obligation.

For the next four months, I scrambled to secure alternate financing. On such a short timeline, it wasn’t possible. When the deadline passed, the owner—understandably—declined to grant further extensions and gave me two options: walk away or be forced out legally.

I chose to walk away.

I walked away from my investment.
From my ideas.
From my dream of building something lasting in this industry.
From 2½ years of blood, sweat, and tears.

Casey’s was my life.
And now, that chapter is over.

To every customer—new and old—who supported me, trusted me, and believed in what we were building: thank you. Truly.

I tried. And now, I’m done with this chapter. On to the next...........
