I recently took my new Honda to Car Lab Detailers to apply a protective clear coat to the hood and bumper and ceramic leather conditioner to the seats. I am extremely happy. The protective coat on the hood blends beautifully and the seats look great. Jerry and Aaron were very professional and so easy to work with. I highly recommend Car Lab Detailers and will return for services in the future.

Prepare yourself, Jerry. I warned you this would be brutal. 😂I’ve never had my car professionally detailed before, but as a mom living on a teacher’s budget who will now be doing Uber, I knew I needed a clean car!Before finding Car Lab, I had an appointment scheduled with a mobile detailing company, but unfortunately, they were a no-show. Thankfully, Aiden (I believe that was his name) at Car Lab was able to get me in quickly and even honored the discount I had been offered through the mobile detailer.Not only does Jerry hire exceptional people, but he also runs an incredible business that genuinely takes care of both its customers and their cars.While picking up my car, I had the privilege of hearing a little about how Car Lab got started and learning about the brilliant mind behind the chemicals they use. As a mom and auntie, I’ll admit my car was… a mess. 😂 But now it looks SO good that I’m pretty sure not a single French fry will ever be allowed inside again!Thank you, Jerry and the entire Car Lab team, for your kindness, professionalism, and for taking such great care of me and my car. Your ceramic coating might have quit on you. And you’d never know it. 💧

A healthy coating is hydrophobic. It pushes water away, which is what keeps dirt from sticking and makes washing easy. When it wears down, that protection goes with it, and your paint is basically unprotected again.

Good news: checking takes about 30 seconds 👇

🚿 Wash the car so you’re testing the coating, not the dirt
💦 Spray or pour water on a flat panel, like the hood or roof
🔵 Tight, round beads that roll right off = coating’s working
🟤 Flat puddles, or water that just sits there = coating’s failing

Check the hood and roof first. They take the most sun, so they usually go first. ☀️

One catch: if the water is sitting flat, another wash won’t bring the coating back. It needs to be corrected and recoated, and that’s what we do. 🤝

It doesn’t stop bird droppings, bugs, or mag chloride from landing. It just stops them bonding — so they come off easy instead of etching in.

Leave them sitting for weeks and they’ll still work through.

Whatever your paint looks like the day it gets coated is what you’re stuck with. 🔒

Ceramic coating doesn’t fix anything. It seals. So every swirl mark, every water spot, every bit of bonded contamination gets locked under there for the life of the coating.

And that’s years. 😬

That’s why the order matters 👇

🧪 Decontaminate first — iron removal and clay
✨ Correct the paint — polish out the swirls and etching
🛡️ Then coat it, and lock in the good version instead of the damaged one

A coating quote that skips correction isn’t really a coating quote. You’re paying to preserve the flaws.

Most of the scratches in your paint didn’t come from the road. They came from you. 🪣

Here’s what happens with one bucket. You dunk a dirty mitt back into the same water, pick the grit right back up, and drag it across your paint again. Every panel, every wash.

Do that weekly for a few years and you get swirl marks — those spiderweb patterns you only see in direct sun. ☀️

The fix costs about ten dollars 👇

🪣 Bucket one: soap
🪣 Bucket two: clean rinse water
🧽 Wash a panel, rinse the mitt in the plain water, then reload with soap
⬇️ Top of the car first, lower panels last — that’s where the grit lives

Same amount of work. Completely different result.

One catch: swirls that are already in there don’t wash out. That’s machine polishing, and that’s what we do. 🤝
