Jones Wrecker Service was started in 1972 by my dad, Tink Jones. He ran his business part time until 1978 when he decided to take a chance and go full time. He always tried to keep the cost of a tow down to where the customer could afford it and still fix their car. He tried to be as quick as possible to get to the customer and get them off the roadway safely. I remember riding on calls with him f
rom the time I was 2 years old. As I got older, I began to be more active in towing. I remember more than once, I would get out of the truck and tell him to stay inside and I would hook up. We made a pretty good team like that. In 1986, I began to drive a wrecker by myself. I really enjoyed it. I was raised in it my entire life. My dad and I worked together for many years, towing cars and cleaning up crashes. In 2004, my dad fell ill with cancer. I ran the calls for him for about 4 months by myself just to keep his income going while he battled the cancer. On June 19, 2004, God called Tink Jones home. After that, things just didn't feel the same. My partner an team mate was gone. After about a 6 month break, I decided I would try to build back the business and continue with what my dad started in 1972. Since then, I have tried to do it his way and keep the service as cheap as possible and swiftly as I can. Now, I have my own sons that seem to remind me of myself at their age. I hope that one day they can carry on the family business and have fun doing it like I have. I miss my dad every day. I think he would be proud to see things are still going the way he started it so long ago. Thanks to everyone who have been our customers over the years.
