A reminder to our dockers (and others): with all of the inclement weather, the docked boats, their fenders and mooring lines are taking a heck of a beating.

Though we are not responsible for damage to your boat due to weather etc. we’ve spent an inordinate amount of time checking on and re-securing boats that are tied improperly and fendered up poorly.

Please check on your boat with some frequency, especially in bad weather.

We took a boat ride up to Kittanning yesterday evening. The intent was to dock at the amphitheater and walk over to a great local establishment for dinner.

We were unpleasantly surprised to find out that the docks that had been brought down from winter storage and hooked up by volunteers a month ago are still water-locked. The borough still hasn’t installed the inclined walkways to the amphitheater, making the docks inaccessible and useless.

We know that things are tough, but come on. This can’t be that big a deal. Finish the job that the volunteers so selflessly started and give your businesses an off-ramp from the river.

The campground opens May 18th! Here’s some friendly reminders to prepare for the 2026 camping season:

🏕️ Campground quiet hours are 10pm - 6am

🐾 Dogs and pets are welcome, but must remain on a leash and remain under owner supervision at all times.

✅ Check in time is 4pm and checkout time is 12pm. Reservation tags will be located at the designated campsite as we are now fully self check-in.

❌ Alcohol is strictly prohibited under Title 36 in the campground and throughout the rest of the park.

📲 Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance and can no longer be paid for at the park office. Visit https://www.recreation.gov/gateways/394 for more information and reservations!
