Here is a recent picture of Fontana Speedway. I will no longer refer to it Auto Club Speedway because they were only a corporate sponsor until their contract was up and they are not the bad guys, I will no longer refer to it as California Speedway, because that was when Roger Penske & Les Richter built and operated the facility. This is strictly a NASCAR mess now and future home of more concrete buildings, more traffic, more trucks, and yes of course more tax dollars. This picture has been borrowed from another persons post. Our little slice of enjoyment up in the far left corner still stands for now. I know NASCAR doesn't even care how many racers, little kids, and families they have absolutely let down by doing this, they should be ashamed. Every NASCAR team owner, every NASCAR board member should be ashamed as well allowing this to happen, but then again I am assuming when NASCAR profits so does every team owner and board member as well. Since we were closed down in December 2022 we have been trying to find a new home for SCS.
So. California Edison would like me to fill out pages of paperwork, spend thousands of dollars on a site plan, and site impact studies, before even entertaining the idea of allowing us to use any of their land under high tension lines, and from what I was told unless it's a soccer field or park, highly unlikely. I have tracked down property parcel numbers and gone to 2 different city halls to fill out paperwork to find out ownership. I have contacted multiple properties that are up for sale or lease and not one are within our budget or an RC tracks budget. I personally sat down with a very large aftermarket auto parts distribution company and they seemed very interested in allowing us to use a very large area of their unused property, until they brought in their landlord that can stick it where the sun doesn't shine. Seems like no one wants to put any effort out there to help. I even emailed a representative with a very large race fuel manufacturer asking about contacts in the racing industry that they may know that could help out, and got absolutely no response to my email. I've gotten emails not returned, phones calls not returned, and many of these are from entities that only exist because of our tax paying dollars. I have not given up yet we are still looking for 2 1/2 - 3 acres of land. Problem is 108,900 - 130,680 square feet of property is leasing for anywhere from $0.38 - $0.45 per square foot per month, or selling for anywhere from $1.8 - $2.5 million per acre in Southern California, seems like most to trucking companies looking for truck parking. So if you know of anyone with money to burn or property to help out with give them my contact information.
