I love this area of St Simon's Island... So many places to visit and beautiful scenery in downtown St Simon's. Visit the library, and you could choose your book from the convenient book cart while sitting on the front porch and enjoy this gorgeous view... So much to see and do right here in this area! Nearby is a fishing pier to check out. Walk a small street with shops and eatery's. Walk left from here to visit the light house. Beautiful walkabout along the waterway, canopys of century old oak trees.. During summer months enjoy the rec center and an outdoor pool open to everyone. Nearby is our favorite restaurant "Iguana's" 🍹🍺 delicious food and dogs 🐾 are allowed on the patio. When you dine at 🦎 you get free 🍦 ice cream after you're meal ❤️. Visit store.
I'm impressed with the beaches here. Most of them are very different because of the shape of the island. Most are dog 🐾 friendly read the rules prior to visiting.

In Folkston, watching the trains go by is a bona fide event. 🚂 The town sits on a rail corridor where two busy lines funnel into one, so dozens of trains thunder through every single day, and folks built a covered platform right beside the tracks just to watch them.

Railfans drive in from all over the country to sit at the Folkston Funnel, coolers packed, scanners crackling, waving at engineers as the boxcars roll past. It is small-town Georgia turning something ordinary into a front-row show, and there is a real sweetness to it. 💛

Folkston is also the eastern gateway to the Okefenokee Swamp, so you can watch a mile-long freight in the morning and paddle blackwater under the cypress by afternoon.
