On June 4, 1896, Henry Ford successfully test-drove his first automobile, the Quadricycle, through the streets of Detroit, Michigan. Built after more than two years of experimentation, the vehicle featured a gasoline-powered engine mounted on a lightweight frame with four bicycle wheels.
The successful test marked an important milestone in Ford's automotive career and helped lay the foundation for the future creation of Ford Motor Company in 1903. Today, the Quadricycle is recognized as the first vehicle designed and built by Henry Ford.
