At CBA, we know that reliable transportation can change lives. Recently, Chris Bundrick and the team at CBA Acworth had the opportunity to do exactly that for a local family working to overcome extraordinary circumstances.

Through a partnership with local nonprofit organization, Together with Families, the team learned about a father who had spent the last 12 years experiencing homelessness despite maintaining steady employment. After years of hard work and perseverance, his family was finally able to secure stable, affordable housing. But one major challenge remained: transportation.

Without a dependable vehicle, keeping a job, getting children where they need to go, and maintaining the stability they had fought so hard to achieve was at risk.

Together with Families and their community partners were able to secure a van for the family, but it required significant repairs before it could safely return to the road. That’s when Chris and the Acworth team stepped in.

The team donated more than $6,500 in repairs and preventive maintenance, ensuring the van would be safe, reliable, and ready to serve the family’s needs for years to come. Because of their generosity, this father now has dependable transportation to get to work, care for his family, and continue building the future they’ve worked so hard to create.

What you’re looking at here is severe coolant system contamination.

Rust, corrosion, and stop leak products have heavily damaged this cooling system. While this is an extreme example, this is exactly what can happen when coolant maintenance is neglected for too long.

Your coolant does much more than keep the engine from overheating. It also helps:
• Prevent internal corrosion
• Lubricate water pump components
• Protect against rust and scale buildup
• Maintain proper operating temperature

Over time, coolant breaks down and loses its protective properties. When that happens, expensive damage can follow — clogged radiators, failing water pumps, heater core issues, overheating, and even engine damage.

Repairs caused by neglect can easily cost several thousand dollars.

Replace my drive belt… why?

Your drive belt — also called a serpentine belt (or historically a fan belt) — is one of the hardest working parts under your hood. It helps power important components like your alternator, A/C compressor, power steering pump, and more.

Just because a belt “looks okay” doesn’t always mean it is okay. Our ASE-certified technicians regularly remind us that many worn belts show little to no obvious visual damage before failure. Most manufacturers recommend replacement somewhere between 60,000–100,000 miles or every 3–5 years as preventative maintenance.

Warning signs can include:
• Squealing or chirping noises
• Cracks, splits, or frayed edges
• Glazing or a shiny, slick appearance
• Visible wear or separation

Drive belts are made of rubber and are exposed to constant heat cycles, friction, and high RPM operation every time you drive. Over time, that rubber simply breaks down.

The good news? We inspect these during every free courtesy inspection, and in many cases we can replace them quickly while you wait.

Here’s a perfect example: this vehicle had relatively low miles but was over 6 years old. The belt had already split into two sections and was close to failing completely. We’re glad we caught it before it left the customer stranded.
