There is a right way and a wrong way. This compares the 2 after the peening on Showa shock shaft was removed incorrectly. My advice? Find a suspension tech you trust and stick with them. Quality over price and availability wins every time.

Does your bike feel different every time you ride it? This one did. Factories make mistakes too. Mass production leaves a lot on the table. Part of what we do is correct issues like this, blemishes or inconsistency. There’s more to tuning than just stacking shims!

This industry is extremely competitive. We work very hard to keep pricing as close as we can to our competitors, and as fair to our customers. To be able to do this while still turning a reasonable profit, efficiency is extremely important.

Here is an informative post for you all. This is based off of the fork oil on the inner cartridge (not contaminated by springs).
Suspension service intervals are drastically different under different conditions and riders. I have my single track guys that can go 80hrs and the oil hasn’t started turning colors and I have A riders on moto that their oil looks like this after just 8hrs.

General rule of thumb to optimize performance and predictably:
-Moto guys 20-40hrs on a service depending on rider ability. Fast A riders closer to 20, vet guys or junior level (general public) closer to 40.
-Off road/ single track guys 40-80 hrs. Put put guys doing more dual sport/ open road riding closer to 80hrs, racers and more aggressive riders (guys riding the trails like their on the moto track) closer to 40hrs.

I would like to note this is based off of what I see on suspension condition during services. The industry seems to just plug a 40hr service tag on suspension. This is for information only and my opinion as a tuner. You can plug yourself in as a rider and use your judgment on when to have your suspension serviced.
