Operation Safe Driver Week has officially started! Observed from July 7th through July 13th this year, law enforcement personnel will be dedicating additional time to ensuring commercial motor vehicle drivers and passenger vehicle drivers aren't engaging in risky driving behaviors.

Today marks Wiers' 60th Anniversary (7/7/1964), which is an extraordinary milestone we're so thrilled to celebrate. 🎉 In honor of the occasion, here's a special message from Tom Wiers, Owner/CEO:

"The company, started by my parents, was initially name Wiers Truck Service & Equipment, Inc. The name was changed in the early 90’s to Wiers International Trucks, Inc. to identify our product offering more clearly, and Wiers Fleet Partners, Inc was launched in 2013.

Many things have changed since 1964. Imagine the simplicity of the trucks made then compared to today. Consider how most companies operated one location and relied on local business owners and farmers as their customer base. If you needed to hire a new employee, you placed an ad in the local paper. This year, we celebrate Wiers' 60th anniversary, but the company's legacy would look different without a special relationship between father and son. Wayne Wiers (and his wife Heddy) started the company in 1964 as an International Harvester Truck and Scout dealer in Plymouth, IN. Now, their son, Tom Wiers, builds upon that legacy as the current Owner/CEO. Wiers wouldn't be what it is today without a father passing on his expertise in the industry and his care for customers to his son.

The results are in... Unsurprisingly, our team members made us proud at the 2024 Indiana Motor Truck Association Truck Driving and Technician Championships! 🎉

Jeff took 1st in the written test, 1st in tire and wheel, 2nd in steering and suspension, and 3rd in electrical. Braden took 1st in engines and 1st in cyber security. John took 1st in steering and suspension.

During the first quarter of the year, our Safety Committee Team has been conducting our annual Safety Walk Throughs. These Walk Throughs are safety spot checks for hazards and areas for improvement at each site so we can ensure everything is as safe as possible. The Walk Throughs check areas for electrical, chemical, cylinder, and fire safety as well as walkways/stairways, lighting, storage, machine/tool/ladder usage, and forklift safety. These Walk Throughs also ensure we're evaluating proper PPE and cleanliness of the facilities both indoors and outdoors.

Safety is our #1 priority, so thank you to our Safety Committee Team for taking extra time and care to ensure everything is perfect! 👏
