Erma R. Bodine

Erma R. Bodine, née Piell, passed away peacefully in Flemington, NJ on August 21, 2026, at the age of 89. Erma’s journey began on May 22, 1937, in Pittstown, NJ, on a day remarkable for its utterly ordinary beginnings—her mother, Ruth, determinedly planting beans in the garden even as labor drew near. That steadfastness and quiet strength would become the bedrock of Erma’s life—a life guided by devotion to her family, her beloved community, and to the grace found in simple joys.

From her earliest days in Pittstown, Erma carried with her a love of togetherness and music, attending Frenchtown High School and graduating with the Class of 1955. Education remained important to her; she went on to earn an Associates Degree from Somerset Community College (now Raritan Valley Community College), always embracing new knowledge and opportunities. These qualities served her well during a long and impactful career with the Hunterdon County Government offices, where she retired as Bookkeeping Manager in the Probation Department. Her integrity and unflagging diligence left lasting impressions on colleagues and the community alike.

Yet perhaps most defining was Erma’s devotion to the Flemington United Methodist Church, where she was a member for over sixty years. Whether singing joyfully in the choir, carefully stewarding finances as Treasurer, or helping organize as Secretary, Erma’s presence resonated deeply within her church family. She brought warmth and melody to worship, steadfast care to church life, and a spirit of generosity to every role she assumed.

Fiercely devoted to her roots, Erma cherished time with family and friends above all—a value that illuminated her days and those who knew her best. She is survived by her loving sister, Grace Piell Kocher, and several cousins, nieces and nephews, with whom she shared countless moments of laughter, conversation, and enduring affection. She was preceded in death by her dear husband, William A. Bodine in 1990, her father, Chester Piell, her mother, Ruth Butler Piell and her brother, Earl Piell.

Erma’s passions painted her life in vibrant colors. She was happiest travelling the wide expanse of the USA, exploring new places and creating lasting memories—none more unique than her journey to Pasadena, California, to attend the storied Rose Bowl Parade one New Year’s Day. Her love of exploration was only matched by her delight in simple pleasures: sharing a meal at a favorite restaurant, listening to Old Country or Gospel music, or settling in to watch a thrilling professional baseball or football game on television. The strains of piano music, often played by her own capable hands, frequently filled her home.

Every gathering was made richer by her gentle wisdom; every meal, sweeter by her stories and laughter. Her friends and family will forever remember her kindheartedness, devotion, and the unassuming way she transformed everyday moments into memories worth treasuring.

A time of remembrance and farewell for Erma’s life will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026. Viewing hours will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main St, Flemington, NJ. The funeral service officiated by the Rev. Dianna Stone will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Doris E. Wilcox

Doris (Kline) Wilcox, age 96, passed away peacefully Friday, August 21, 2026, at her home in East Amwell, NJ.

Doris was a lifelong resident of Hunterdon County, born on May 4, 1930, in Three Bridges, NJ, and resided near Reaville, NJ for over 77 years. Doris was the daughter of the late David and Ethel (Higgins) Kline and a graduate of Flemington High School, class of 1948. She was employed at the Prudential Insurance Co. in Newark, NJ prior to her marriage to Earl H. Wilcox for 58 years. She was a member of East Amwell Seniors and for many years contributed articles to their newsletters.

Doris most enjoyed time spent with her beloved children, grandchildren and long-time friends. Doris particularly looked forward to family gatherings where she would most definitely bake a pie or two. One of her hobbies was visiting yard sales and finding treasures. Doris especially enjoyed her trips to Cape May, NJ with her family. On the Wildwood boardwalk, Doris enjoyed bicycling, people watching, eating at Sam’s Pizza, and buying Douglass Fudge.

She was predeceased by her husband Earl H. Wilcox, sons Mark Wilcox and Kim Wilcox, daughter-in-law Patricia Wilcox, brothers Douglas Kline and Lambert Kline and sisters Thelma Miller and Regina White.

Doris is survived by son Brian Wilcox (Marge); daughter Eileen Westlein (Mike); grandchildren Michael Wilcox, Alex Westlein, Abby Westlein, Kate Wilcox, John Wilcox; and nieces and nephews.

Edward J. Ham, Sr.

Edward J. Ham, Sr., of Flemington, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on April 23, 1936, in Newark, NJ, Edward lived a life dedicated to his family, his work, and his many passions.

Edward leaves behind his beloved wife of nearly sixty-nine years, Barbara Ham, who stood by his side through a lifetime filled with love and shared memories. He is also survived by his devoted children: Deborah Whisler and her husband, Randy, Kathleen Graf and her husband Glenn, Edward Ham, Jr. and his wife, Susan, and Michael Ham-Blackmon and his spouse Michael Blackmon-Ham. His legacy continues through his cherished six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, with whom he remained ever close, imparting wisdom, kindness, and the value of hard work.

In his distinguished professional career, Edward served as an engineer specializing in semiconductors, contributing significantly to Westinghouse, RCA, Microwave Semiconductor, and Thompson. His expertise led him to hold three U.S. patents in unrelated scientific fields, a testament to his innovative spirit and dedication to advancing technology.

Outside his professional life, Edward was a remarkably gifted artist and painter, earning numerous state and county awards that celebrated his creative vision and technical skill. His artistry brought beauty to the world and earned him great distinction among his peers. In addition, he enjoyed woodworking, finding joy in shaping and crafting with his hands, a hobby that allowed him to relax and create cherished pieces for his loved ones.

Service to his country was important to Edward, and he proudly served in the United States National Guard for nine years, embodying a spirit of commitment and responsibility to his nation and community.

Edward was predeceased by his sisters, Joan Ruocco and Joyce Szumloz, as well as his brother, Andrew Ham. Though they are gone, their memories lived on in Edward’s stories and his heart.

A Mass will be held to honor Edward’s life on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 10:00 AM in St. Magdalen Church, located at 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ 08822 under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in St. Magdalen Cemetery, North Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Edward are invited to attend and join in remembering a man who gave so much of himself to others.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to support the art program at the Senior Center that he enjoyed so much. Checks should be made to “The County of Hunterdon” with art program in the memo and mailed to: Senior Center, PO Box 2900, Flemington, NJ 08822. Robin Brink

Robin Brink (née Stulec), born on December 16, 1968, passed away peacefully alongside her family on August 15, 2026, in Raritan Township, NJ. Robin’s life, marked by compassion, warmth, and unwavering dedication to those she loved, leaves a lasting legacy for all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Robin grew up in the Iron Bound section of Newark, NJ. She attended East Side High School in Newark, setting the foundation for a life defined by hard work, independence, and resilience. Throughout her career, Robin made significant contributions as a Records Technician with the New Jersey Division of Motor Vehicles. She was especially dedicated to handling mail-in applications for motor vehicle registrations and was always willing to help others navigate the process. Her kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand were qualities that extended beyond her work and were reflected in every aspect of her life.

Family was at the center of Robin’s world. She was known for being loving and protective, always putting others before herself. Her two sons were among the most important people in her life. She cherished every moment of being their mother, always taking immense pride in the men they became, and never passing up a chance to attend any of their sporting events growing up, proudly cheering them on. She is survived by her devoted mother, Patricia Reilly-Sipe, and her husband JR; her son, Cory, his wife, Shannon, and her granddaughter, Lainey, who had recently given her the proud title of grandma; her son, Daniel, and his girlfriend Zoe; her beloved sister, Elaine Reilly, half sisters Billie-Jean Maletsky and Jessica Stulec, her dogs, Grant and Pepper, her horse, Money, her close friend Suzanne Marinakos, her partner, Rob Delaney, and many extended family members who she held close to her heart.

In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Robin found great joy in the many passions that filled her life. She had a deep love for animals and took great joy in caring for and nurturing many pets throughout her life, including her beloved dog Maris, who held a particularly special place in her heart. Her love for animals began as a young girl growing up around horses and many different types of pets. Later in life, she especially enjoyed weekends spent at the farm of her dear friends Joellen and Chris, where she loved spending time with them and caring for her horse, Money. Robin also treasured her time outdoors over the years especially hiking with her dogs Maris and later Grant at Ken Lockwood Gorge and Merrill Creek. One of her proudest accomplishments was becoming ordained, and officiating the weddings of her son Cory and daughter-in-law Shannon, as well as her close friends Suzanne Marinakos and Steve Tsopelas. She found great enjoyment cruising on her motorcycle and capturing special moments through photography. As an amateur photographer, Robin loved documenting events and preserving memories for family and friends, as well as photographing some of her favorite bands. She displayed a fondness for Pontiac Trans Ams and Firebirds, restoring a 1968 Firebird that took her on a memorable trip to the Trans Am National Show in Ohio, and was currently restoring a 1978 Trans Am. She loved reading Stephen King novels, watching horror and mystery movies, listening to her favorite music ranging from Garth Brooks to Metallica, and enjoyed cheering on her favorite teams including the Yankees, Patriots, and Eagles.

A celebration of Robin's life will be held privately. Her spirit, kindness, and the beautiful memories she created will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were privileged to share in her remarkable journey.

Fred C. Thomisser

Fred C. Thomisser formerly of Readington Township where he resided in Whitehouse Station, NJ since 1971, passed away on August 17, 2026, at the age of 82. He was predeceased by his parents, Ferdinand and Anna Eberhardt Thomisser and by his brother, Werner Thomisser, of Charlotte, NC. He is survived by his nephew, Stephen Thomisser (Elizabeth), of Charlotte, NC, and his niece, Cara Thomisser, of Charlotte, NC. Additionally, Fred is survived by his godson, Kevin Malley, of Weehawken, NJ.

Fred was a member of the first graduating class of Bridgewater-Raritan High School in 1962. He received a B.A. in Political Science from Villanova University in 1966 and a Master’s Degree in International Affairs from Columbia University in 1968.

He taught Political Science, Government, International Affairs, and History at Northampton County College in Bethlehem, PA for eleven years and was later employed at Raritan Valley Community College in its data processing center.

Fred was a longtime member of the Whitehouse Rescue Squad, having joined the squad in 1980. He was also a volunteer driver for Hunterdon County Meals-on-Wheels from 2006 through 2014.

Fred was known for his distinctive personality and playful sense of humor. He loved making people laugh and could often be counted on for a joke, a clever observation, or a perfectly timed pun.
