🚗 TECH TIP TUESDAY: Why is your tire light on in the summer heat? ☀️

We expect that dashboard light to pop on during a freezing January morning, but seeing it glare at you on a 90-degree afternoon catches a lot of drivers off guard.

To clear up the confusion, we asked Joe, aService Advisor here at Nelson Auto, what's actually going on. Joe's seen it all in the service bay, and he explains that for every 10°F jump in temperature, the air inside your tires expands, raising your pressure by 1 to 2 PSI.

"Driving on hot pavement builds that pressure fast," Joe warns. "Overinflation wears down your tread unevenly and puts major stress on the sidewalls, which increases your risk of a highway blowout on your way up to the lakes."
