Customer came in noticing oil spots on the ground. Upon further inspection, found the cam cover leaking oil up by the turbo and running down the back of the engine block. Not only is it leaking oil, it’s a common issue on these EA888.3 engine when the cam covers start leaking oil, the plastic coolant union breaks due to the oil seeping onto the oring causing it to swell and bust and can cause a coolant leak as well. This one wasn’t leaking coolant but when going to swap the cheap plastic design for upgraded billet design, as this should be replaced when doing this reseal whether it is leaking coolant or not, you can see the union was already broken! New union installed, all one time use hardware replaced, everything cleaned up and reinstalled. This GTI is leak free and ready to go! Make sure to get ahold of me if you notice your cam cover starting to leak!!
