GOOD MORNING, FIGHTIN 5TH!
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, but for these children and their families, it’s not just about September. It’s every month, every day and every moment.
This morning, I’m thinking about the Holzworth family and their beautiful 9-year-old daughter, Kallie. Kallie was diagnosed with leukemia in May and has been fighting this terrible disease ever since. Her mom and family have been right by her side through the treatments, the long trips from Cape Cod to Boston Children’s Hospital and the Jimmy Fund, and everything that comes with this fight.
Kallie is just one of so many children who are fighting childhood cancer, and behind every one of these children is a family that is fighting right along with them.
As Kallie’s mom reminded me, these kids need people to speak up for them and bring attention to what they are going through — not just in September, but all year long.
So today, I want to recognize Kallie and every child who is fighting this battle, and all of the moms, dads, brothers, sisters, grandparents and loved ones who never leave their side.
KALLIE STRONG.
