Getting this car back to HQ was most CERTAINLY a dream come true, but the UHaul trailer was probably thinking nightmare. Fortunately it was an uneventful trip!

In an EXCITING turn of events, Carl will be wheeling ‘Wendell’ the C4 Corvette at the Seekonk Speedway PUMPKIN SMASH this Saturday! David will be roc’in the third gen, the Mad Mullet in the 3000GT and Fred will be getting down in the Mark 7. What will Sean be driving? You’ll have to show up and find out! It’s too good to spoil the surprise!
TBERG MEDIA will be in the house covering all the action for those of you who can’t make it. Trick of treating on track starts at 11:30AM, showtime at 2PM! SEE YOU THERE!!!

In 318B.C. the ancient philosopher Mencius said “Car trailer empty upon departure returns full.”

A day after going to look at Gertie we were out of the day job slightly early, hooked up to a UHaul trailer, gassed up and outbound to go fetch her! The previous owner was definitely troubled to see that we’d shown up winchless, but we assured him not to worry: We have a cable come-along and a can-do attitude! Amusingly enough, the UHaul website said their car trailer wouldn’t work for this setup (naturally we changed to a different car to make it go through). While Gertie did, albeit barely, fit on the trailer we did realize the computer meant the weight as this unit was none too pleased to be hauling our new acquisition.
BACK to HQ for disembarking and, as the night would determine, first fire up!

Welp, the quarter million mile Mitsubishi picked up our first ever first round win at the Seekonk Speedway Spectator Drags! On paper this race was QUITE lopsided (and I’ll absolutely say this guy is going to be a FORCE with some reps and sticky tires), but I’m certainly going to savor the flavor since it may not happen again! As for how it went beyond that, well you’ll have to check out the full event from TBERG MEDIA to find out!
All in all a GREAT night of racing with a GREAT group of people! Looking forward to finishing the season out at the Pumpkin Smash on October 10!

Like I’ve previously said, I’m REALLY not good at NOT buying cars.

From Fred sending the listing over to FINALLY arranging to look at her in a highly competitive sales environment 7 days later, I decided FINALLY owning a Jet Age 50s car was too good of an opportunity to pass up. When we went to see her she was on a trailer freshly excavated from the remains of the collapsed barn she had resided in since the 1980s. Some of her stablemates weren’t quite so lucky and we really hope that they went on to find awesome forever homes.

I’ll admit, rescuing the 1941 Pontiac Torpedo just to be able to say we have cars from every decade from the 1930s to current in our shop was HIGHLY tempting…

Decided to rearrange the furniture and get this guy on the lift so that we can work like gentlemen! Most definitely the biggest thing on the lift to date, but fits like a glove and still allows parking! Now to finish up this transmission swap, exhaust and some other odds and ends!

IT’S RACE DAY!!!
Last week the Mad Mullet got his feet wet at the Seekonk Speedway Spectator Drags and TONIGHT we get to run it back! Carl will be wheeling the trusty 250,000 mile DSM, David will be in the Camaro, Sean in the Vette and Gabe in his now leak free 3000GT!

With under 150 miles to go until the goal of making it to 250,000 without the drivetrain having to come apart, we decided “Why not make them hard miles?” With the clutch starting to slip there was a little concern, but this little turbo ‘Bishi keeps right on rolling!
