2025 Toyota Camry in for an audio overhaul

We started this one by removing the factory door speakers. We then made templates for each door to properly cut and lay on SoundShield damping material. The factory speakers were replaced with Arc Audio X2 speakers. Components in front, and coaxials in the rear. For bass we added a Sundown Audio E-Series 10" subwoofer in a vented enclosure in the trunk. Everything was powered off an Arc Audio Blackbird DSP amplifier mounted discretely under the passenger front seat. We tuned the DSP with the help of our AudioControl DM-RTA software to end up with a fantastic sounding and well balanced system!

2021 Kenworth - Head Unit (Part 2)

New screen mounted and secured. Nice and flush like it was meant to be there!

We designed and printed a custom plate that sandwiches the new screen to the factory dash panel and bolts directly into the back of the screen. A ribbon cable extension is then used to connect the screen to the chassis of the radio that we installed in a previous post.

All thats left is a little tuning and this project is all wrapped up!

2021 Kenworth - New Head Unit

Our goal is to install a Sony XAV-AX8100 into this area of the dash. The problem is if we install it where the original radio was, then the screen either blocks the gauges above it, or the switches below it. So we thought about mounting it in the area where the larger pocket is on the right, but then it's a little far away from the driver. So... We did a little re-wiring. A little disassembling, and a lot of 3D printing, and decided to put it in the area where the gauges were. :)

First we started by moving the gauge panel into the area where the pocket used to be. A little wire and hose re-routing and that part wasn't too bad. Now we ran into an issue where the screen+ chassis of the radio were too deep to get the screen to sit nice and flush like we wanted it to. So time to start tearing down the radio!

A custom inner dash piece was made to hold just the chassis of the Sony head unit. We then routed the ribbon cable for the screen out of the front and into a cavity where the connector from the screen will recess into.

You can also see the plate we made to go where the original head unit was. This houses the Sundown amplifier bass k**b, a USB port, and also holds the two crossovers for the front component speakers in behind.

Now onto getting the screen mounted!

2021 Kenworth - Front Tweeters

To finish up the front stage on this truck and fit the tweeters for our Arc Audio components, we modeled up some new pillar pods. The pods were then printed, sanded, painted, and then mounted onto the A-pillars for a perfect fit.

All of the new speakers in the truck are powered off a Diamond Audio NEO Series 6-channel DSP amplifier mounted on the wall under the rear bunk.

2021 Kenworth - Door Speaker Upgrade

The original speakers in the doors of this truck were some very cheap and horrible sounding 4x6's. To install the new Arc Audio 5.25" component speakers we wanted, a little cutting needed to be done. We trimmed the door panel, and then 3D printed some adapter plates that were then epoxied into place and sealed. The new speakers then bolted right in place perfectly.

2021 Kenworth - Rear Speakers

The truck had speakers in the lower area of the rear sleeper, so we replaced those with new Arc Audio X2 Series 6.5" coaxial speakers. Then we added two matching 6.5" speakers to the upper half of the sleeper as well.

2021 Kenworth - Sub Enclosure

We are installing a Sundown SAv.3 12" subwoofer under the rear bunk of this truck, and we sort of had a limited space to deal with due to an HVAC system, needing access to an electrical panel, the shock for the rear bunk support, and wanting to leave a little storage space for the owner. So we started with a CAD rendering of the enclosure, to make sure we had the right airspace, port area, tuning, etc necessary for the subwoofer. And keeping it in the space we had to work with.

Once we knew we could fit everything properly, we cut out all the pieces of the enclosure, and got to work building it, Then we finished it in an epoxy bedliner material. The enclosure was then bolted to the floor under the rear bunk.
The subwoofer will be powered by a Sundown SIA-1750D amplifier (rated 1750W RMS @ 1-ohm), also mounted under the rear bunk.

Super clean install Rishi did on this Cherokee using equipment supplied by the customer.

We made a seperate floor below the factory rear floor for the amps, line output converter, and power distribution to mount to.

We also made an additional strap to hold up the amp rack like the factory rear floor, giving easy access to the spare tire if needed.
