Not business related but nonetheless entertaining. We've been tractoring and making topsoil and filling and leveling the ground near the shop. Kubota tractor, rock bucket, rock screen, three point attachments for a rake and tiller etc....But at the end of the day, the pesky rocks still have to be picked up. I love this pic taken today...One of Duke's little girlfriends and her gran came round today and she helped me pick up rocks. Of course, Duke is on the job that requires no German Shepherds but he was entertained.

We had a productive week. Met some nice people (Brian, Taylor Kennedy,and Alan.) Almost all the time the uncooperative...

We had a productive week. Met some nice people (Brian, Taylor Kennedy,and Alan.) Almost all the time the uncooperative machines are caused by using normal gasoline and not doing a few simple things at the end of the season. Let Duke and I know if you need a hand. We do machines you don't sit on or hold in your hands.

We are happy to report that Duke has passed his A Levels. We do warranty work for Champion, Artisam, Duromax, and Firma...

Hello all. Wanted to share an experience from yesterday.
Our neighbour brought over his brand new DR Power walk behind/self propelled/battery start wheeled trimmer. He bought it online from a business on the east coast and paid for a five year warranty.
Brand new....ten minutes into him using it, the self propel stopped working. He called the business and they sent him a new belt.
That's when he brought it to us.
Yep...the belt was off the engine pulley and mangled. Wierd.
We replaced the belt, started the engine and the belt slipped off.
Upon closer examination, the machine appears horribly put together. The belt guide actually puts pressure on the drive belt-causing it to bind and slip off (not adjustable).
To access the internals, one has to take nine bolts off. I was dumbfounded at the poor materials/workmanship and it was challenging to reinstall the fasteners as the metal tooling is amazingly bad.
So, I referred him to a shop in Spokane.
Some lessons to learn.
-Be wary about buying machines online.
-DR Power has been sold at least twice and in my experience their customer service and warranty is frustrating and poor.
-There are no DR Power warranty locations in Spokane that will warranty machines purchased outside of their shop. When I've done warranty work in the past the customer paid me and submitted the invoice.

Duke and I are having fun and jobbing it. We have garlic a couple months from harvest and the onions and potatoes are all bedded in and coming up. Pumpkins are just coming up and we are covering the black plastic with grass clippings. Might be the best garden yet. We keep busy but always happy to help with uncooperative machines We had one mower come in today that the owner tipped completely upside down for some reason....we had it sorted in 15 mins with a sharpened blade and oil change. Let us know if we can help.

Duke has noticed that the 'turnaround time' on machines tends to be the second most important thing for lawnmowers and tillers and generators. He thinks that is our strongest attribute. Looking back the last few months....the average turnaround time is 1.3 ish days.

I agreed.

We limit our customers to those that have machines you don't sit on or hold in your hand....

Duke and I had a busy day. Three machines (two lawnmowers and one wheeled trimmer) came in today. None of them would start or run. We got all three running and serviced. Each one needed the carb removed and cleaned (along with all the normal stuff). One customer had it the same day, the other one is collecting tomorrow, and the third is waiting on a gasket as it was leaking...so not a perfect Trifecta.

We limit ourself to the machines that we work on and we usually have all the parts on hand to turn them back over quickly.

PS, we ordered two of the gaskets so that if it happens again, we'll have one ready!

In case this is your first time seeing one of Duke's posts...We don't work on machines you sit on, nor do we work on those that are handheld...and no, we don't do electric or battery powered machines.

We've been busy the last month. One of the things we did in our nearly 30 year old doublewide was remodel the bathroom. We still have some trim work to do, and I'm not keen on the sink, but it's nearly there. Yes, that is aluminium diamond plate as wainscotting and yes, that is a toolbox.
