MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) is rolling out a whole new network and fare system this spring, including MARTA Reach on-demand transit! Bus route 188, which the South Fulton CID requested MARTA begin in 2020, will be replaced with MARTA Reach shuttle service on April 18.

MARTA Reach is replacing 's Route 188 bus on April 18--are you ready?

Here's some quick facts for riders:

🚍MARTA Reach will take passengers anywhere inside the Oakley Industrial zone, with pickup guaranteed in 30 minutes.

🕔MARTA Reach will run 7 days a week, from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m.

🏃All Reach shuttles can hold 7-9 passengers at once. To keep trips short, you might pick up or drop off another rider on your way to your destination.

📱Download the MARTA Reach On-Demand Transit app or call MARTA to request a ride, starting March 7. Between March 7-28, all Reach rides will be free.

Seen this sign lately? Starting on March 7, MARTA's Route 188 will soon be replaced with MARTA Reach: an on-demand shuttle that'll take you anywhere inside the service zone. To get a ride, commuters will download the MARTA Reach On-Demand Transit app (available now) or call MARTA. Shuttles will arrive within 30 minutes of a ride request.

MARTA Reach is coming to Fairburn this March!

With this new on-demand microtransit option, commuters can request a ride anywhere inside the Oakley Industrial On-Demand Zone--check out the area boundary in the map below. MARTA Reach will take you anywhere inside the zone, or connect you to bus and rail routes that'll take you even further. The I-85/SR 74 intersection work continues! Here's how that'll affect your trip, plus updates and site pictures from Georgia Department of Transportation.

🚨 Traffic Impacts 🚨
- Current lane shifts will remain in place on I-85 and SR 74 Eastbound to allow crews to work.
- In late December (estimated), traffic will shift on SR 74 Eastbound from left lanes onto 2 new right lanes

🚧 Current Work 🚧
- Transfer of utilities to newly installed poles continues through October, AGL continuing gas line relocations through February
- Continued relocation/replacement of drainage waterline on SR 74 through December
- Pouring new bridge deck for two right lanes of SR 74 EB scheduled for November

PSA: Overnight lane closures at SR 74/I-85 are scheduled from August 5-8 to set bridge beams!

This week, GDOT will install double lane closures on SR 74 and I-85 near their interchange at Senoia Road. State troopers and other emergency vehicles will methodically slow traffic on I-85 near the interchange during the lane closures.

Weather and on-site conditions permitting, these are the lane closures scheduled for Tuesday, August 5 through Thursday, August 7, from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following mornings:

• I-85 northbound - Two lanes will be closed between Gullatt Road and Highway 92. Early in the week, two left lanes closed, later will switch to two right lanes.
• I-85 southbound– Two lanes will be closed between Fayetteville Road and Bohannon Road. Early in the week, two left lanes closed, later will switch to two right lanes.
• SR 74/Senoia Road eastbound – One right lane and the right shoulder lane will be closed between City Lake Road and Landrum Road/Milan Road.

🚨 Heads up: Georgia Department of Transportation will be slowing traffic on I-85 between Johnson Rd and SR 74/Senoia Rd this Sunday morning, 5 a.m. - 10 a.m. 7/20/25.

GDOT will set up traffic pacing to encourage slower speeds while Coweta Fayette EMC crews relocate overhead utility poles and lines across I-85. This will allow traffic to keep flowing while work is continued.

Motorists are advised to expect some traffic delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
