Vern had his 1 year follow up today to ensure his carotid arteries are still clean following his surgery. He is doing well and enjoying his new home at Residences of Coffee Creek in Chesterton, IN. He still has much difficulty speaking but he has made many friends at the assisted living complex as one can imagine. The nurses dote over him and he doesn’t seem to mind, Ha! After his appointment, we stopped by his favorite breakfast place for waffles and a burrito!

Vern has moved into a new home. Here are some pics of him and his new place along with some pictures from Christmas dinner at our home. He is enjoying his new place immensely. All the staff love and greet him daily.

Most are aware, but Vern lost his wife Rusty last month. He is weathering things pretty well considering. Here he is in his new home having spiked hot chocolate, watching football and commanding his new furry buddy!

Need some help Early Thursday morning this week if anyone is available?

Need a couple guys to help move a few items from house to garage for storage prior to leaving for ferry. Less than an hour of work for 2. 1/2 hour for 3 or more. Willing to pay! If someone has a truck even better. Will have one queen mattress to take to transfer site.

Vern Stoner took, what will more than likely be, his last visit to Chena Hot Springs resort today. It was a spur of the moment trip. He had a great time and we even ran into long time customer Monte Jordan and daughter who had yet to have the opportunity to see him. He will be heading to Indiana the 29th of July. We will drive south taking the ferry from Whittier. Then driving from Bellingham to his new home in Indiana stopping to see friends en-route. I will post pictures along the way for those that might be interested.

Goldpanner Chevron is now officially closed. It truly is an end of a 50+ year era. We would like to thank all our loyal and valued customers who have been family to us for a fantastic ride. A special shout out to the 200+ customers and family that made our last day very special. The Daily News Miner was there and plans to write a story on Goldpanner. For all those who attended the barbecue and might have pictures, please share those with me so that I might get them to the News Miner for the article. [email protected]

There will be a barbecue celebration June 18th from Noon-4pm at Goldpanner Chevron. It will be our last day of business in Fairbanks. It will be catered by Big Daddy’s barbecue and is our way of saying thanks to all of our loyal customers and a farewell to Vern from the community. He will be here from Noon-4 or until he gets tired.

We give a big shout out to Amanda & Jeff at Big Daddy’s along with Tim Palmer, Rocky Barnette & gang at iHeartRadio for spreading the news.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as schedules permit.
