A customer from Arden-Arcade came to San Juan Auto Smog this week for a smog check and oil change. She needed the smog check for registration, and her maintenance light was on, so she wanted to take care of both.
We completed the smog check quickly, checked her engine air filter and cabin air filter, and found both were already new. Then, when we removed the oil drain plug, we saw the oil was also new.
It turned out she had already had her oil changed and simply did not remember. The bigger problem was that her previous shop had failed to reset her maintenance light and had not placed an oil change reminder sticker on her windshield. That mistake could have cost her unnecessary time and money.
We gave her a discount, reset the maintenance light, and got her back on the road with the honest service she deserved.
