Window tint in Washington: choose the film by the law, not just the shade❗
Check the film’s visible light transmission (VLT) — the percentage of light that passes through the glass and film together. The final VLT depends on both, so confirm the specification for your vehicle.
Under Washington RCW 46.37.430, passenger cars generally need at least 24% VLT on side and rear windows. Different rules apply to rear windows on SUVs, trucks, and vans. Windshield tint, reflectivity, and film colors are also restricted.
At L&M Pro Car Detailing, professional installation includes choosing a STEK film to suit your vehicle and needs. Both ACTION and SMART are non-metallic, so they won’t interfere with GPS, Bluetooth, or cellular signals.
Before installation: verify the VLT for each window and check current state requirements, especially if you’re considering darker tint or a medical exemption.
