What Exactly Is a Seacock?

A seacock is simply a valve (preferably high-quality bronze or engineered marine composite) that controls any opening below the waterline. It allows seawater to enter or leave your boat for systems like engine cooling, sinks, toilets, and air conditioning.

One of the most important maintenance jobs on your boat is to operate every seacock several times a season. If it sits untouched for years, you may find it seized when you need it most.

A good rule of thumb:
✔ Open it.
✔ Close it.
✔ Every Month.

A seacock that cannot be operated quickly in an emergency offers no protection to the vessel. Regular movement distributes lubrication and clears out salt crystals. If a valve becomes stiff, never force it—this can snap the handle or stem.

QUESTION: DO YOU LEAVE YOUR SEACOCKS OPEN OR DO YOU CLOSE THEM EVERY TIME YOU LEAVE YOUR BOAT?

Hello Saturday! The PNW is showing off today.

From crab pots all over the Sound to boats weaving through the San Juans, today is sublime on the water.
If you're lucky enough to be out there, take a moment to put the phone down, breathe in the salt air, and enjoy it. These are the days that get us through the winter dreariness.

Where are you boating today? We'd love to see your photos in the comments! ⚓ And if you need assistance getting yourself into the boating life, please let us know!

At Everett Yachts, we're People First, Always.

"BEEN THERE, BUMPED THAT"

Believe me, people on the dock aren't impressed by how fast you can dock.

Slow gives you options. Fast gives you excitement—and not the good kind.

If the approach doesn't feel right, back out and try again. "Never approach the dock faster than you're willing to hit it."

What's the best docking tip you've learned over the years?

Fair winds, calm seas..... and don't forget to wave!

Oh man, sometimes the PNW reminds you exactly why we put up with drizzles much of the year! The water has a summer shimmer on it, the mountains are out saying Hello, and I am waxing poetic!

Are you in the San Juans on an extended cruise, just taking the boat out for the weekend or doing some crabbing?

Big W is currently headed north for some of that summer relaxation.

Share a photo of your summer fun in the comments!

THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF BOATERS: The ones who look out the window and see a nice day…and the ones who immediately start checking tides, the wind, and wondering if they have enough ice in the cooler.

If you're in that second group... you're our kind of people!

The PNW gives us plenty of gray days, and the chores will always be there, so when summer shows up, don't hesitate. Untie your lines and make some memories!

☀️ Who ordered this weather?! ☀️

Puget Sound is finally showing off!!

This is the kind of weekend that reminds us why we put up with winter in the PNW. The water's calling, and every boat in the marina suddenly looks like it wants to go somewhere.

If your boat hasn't left the slip in a while, spend ten minutes checking fluids, belts, batteries, bilge pumps, and dock lines before you head out. It's amazing how many boating adventures are improved by not having to call for a tow!

Then go make some memories. A great time on the water does not have to be a week in the San Juans. Sometimes it's just dropping a hook somewhere quiet and letting the world slow down for a few hours.

Where's your boat taking you this weekend? We need ideas!

Tollycraft Rendezvous 2026 | Roche Harbor

This week, Tollycraft owners from around the Pacific Northwest have gathered at beautiful Roche Harbor for the annual Tollycraft Rendezvous.

There's something special about seeing all these classic Northwest-built boats together in one place. Many are 30, 40, even 50 years old, yet they're still cruising the San Juans, Desolation Sound, and beyond—proof that good design, quality construction, and dedicated owners never go out of style!

Hope everyone is enjoying this Northwest tradition, and we wish you fair winds as you depart tomorrow.

If you're attending the rendezvous, we'd love to see your photos in the comments.

The Tollycraft Rendezvous kicks off today at Roche Harbor!

Tollycrafts have deservedly earned a reputation as some of the most beloved cruising boats in the Pacific Northwest. Built right here in Washington, they're still turning heads from the San Juans to Desolation Sound decades after they left the factory.

So we want to know:

⚓ Have you ever owned a Tollycraft?
⚓ What model was it?
⚓ And if you could own any Tollycraft ever built, which one would be your dream boat?

Whether it was a 26 Sedan, a 34, a 40 Tri-Cabin, a 43 CPMY, or something else entirely, we'd love to hear your stories—and see your photos!

Drop them in the comments below. 👇

Here's to the boats that helped define Northwest cruising.
