🦦 Humboldt Bay Otter Fun Facts 🦦

The otters hanging around our docks in King Salmon are most likely North American river otters—and they’re always entertaining!

✨ They can hold their breath for up to 8 minutes while diving for fish, crabs, and other tasty snacks.

✨ They have webbed feet and powerful tails that make them incredibly agile swimmers.

✨ River otters are naturally curious and playful. If they pop up to look at you, they’re probably just checking you out!

✨ They use the docks, pilings, and floating logs as places to rest, groom, and keep an eye out for their next meal.

✨ They have incredibly sensitive whiskers that help them detect fish and other prey, even in the murky waters of Humboldt Bay.

✨ A healthy otter population is a great sign that the bay’s ecosystem is thriving.

Watching these little characters at the docks never gets old. 🩵🦦

💙 Happy Father’s Day to all the incredible dads, grandpas, stepdads, father figures, and mentors! 💙

Today we’re celebrating the men who taught us how to bait a hook, build a campfire, tell the best stories, and create memories that last a lifetime.

From early morning fishing trips to evenings around the campfire, some of life’s greatest moments happen outdoors with Dad. Here’s to the laughs, the adventures, the lessons, and the traditions that are passed down from one generation to the next.

From all of us at Johnny’s At The Beach, we wish you a relaxing, joy-filled Father’s Day surrounded by the people who matter most.

💙 Tell us in the comments:

The staff is so friendly and helpful! Clean park, great location. Close enough to Eureka but far enough to not be in the city. Walking paths, great restaurant in walking distance. Close to the water… Highly recommended for everyone
