Here is a video just west of Estherville on Highway 9. We were paged to clear the vehicle from the road way but that is the current visibility! Not a good time to be out and if you’re not blocking the roadway we will not being coming till the morning!

When you see the warnings from the Emmet County IA Sheriff’s Office and Emmet County Emergency Management please listen! We’ve already been out multiple times today including pulling a deputy out of the ditch after helping a stranded motorist. We can assure you it may not seem bad in town but the conditions are deteriorating with the continued wind and the plows being pulled from the roads. Stay home/ in town if possible, we can assure it’s not fun to drive in it!

SNOW EMERGENCY PARKING

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Estherville for Friday and Saturday, 11/28 and 11/29/2025.

In preparation for our first snow event with a forecasted amount of over 2 inches, we would like to remind residents that parking is prohibited on city streets during the event and until snow clearance is complete. Vehicles must be off the streets by 10pm.

Once the snow event has concluded and your street has been cleared, on-street parking will be permitted.

In the downtown business district, please remove your vehicle from the street the day following the event to enable our city staff to clear the area.

As a reminder, please park your vehicle off the street from 10 pm until the streets are cleared when snowfall of 2 inches or more is forecasted.

This is the only warning you will receive. We will not be knocking on doors to alert residences that they are in violation.

Your vehicle will be ticketed and towed if in violation of the snow emergency parking ordinance.

Always glad to have Deputy Greenwald and K9 Bear out to do training on our scrap cars when they have some free time! It’s great to know Bear’s ready when the Police Department or Sheriff’s Office needs him!

We stopped by Emmet County Early Head Start this morning so the kids could check out the wreckers and equipment for towing! It’s great seeing how excited they are to sit in them and play around!
