Heading to Washington DC in a few days. I have been there many times and never tire of any of it. On my list of things to be sure to do will be ...take a segway trip down Pennsylvania Avenue, enjoy a boat ride to Mt. Vernon, visit museum after museum, walk the mall, and visit the neighborhoods...I love the place and then I love to come home to Estes Park;)

The segway company was easy to deal with and the guides were friendly and good with stories. The price was $70 per person for 3 hours. We did a great deal of off road travel which was such fun. A lovely way to spend a good day once again.

Just home from a fantastic trip to San Francisco. We met many fine folks and enjoyed lots of hospitality. Just a couple of connections for today: thefrontporchsf.com (excellent restaurant off the beaten track) and www.dogpatchsf.co (dog leashes and a fine idea along with them) Enjoy.

I may be sounding like an advertisement for Segway, but in my experience, the Segway machine is a great ride which allows one to cover a great deal of ground and enjoy the feel of a little speed. Our Segway ride in Reykjavik was wonderful so I have just booked a Golden Gate Park Segway experience for later this week. Off to San Francisco tomorrow to see what I can see.

We stayed at the Hotel Russell off Russell Square just a block from the British Museum. It was a great place to be with a tube station just around the corner and much to do in the neighborhood itself. Our location made it possible to tour the British Museum many times, singling out exhibits and enjoying them before lunch or late in the afternoon...just perfect.

Navigating around London was simplified by the purchase of an oyster card for the tube and The London Pass for the entrance fee for many museums and attractions. We ordered the LP from home and it came with a small booklet full of directions and tips on how and when to see things...most useful. The Pass allowed us to walk straight in to most places without standing in the queue. The oyster card got us in and out of the subway rapidly with little time spent in ticket lines. We put $ on it and could add to the amount easily at special kiosks. It is accepted on the tube and on many buses, and boats...thinking about using it just makes me smile.
