Our first frame rail replacement.

We had the opportunity to repair one of Stevens Feed Mills trucks in a way that we have never done before. The truck came into our shop for a scheduled engine overhaul and some transmission issues. What we didnt expect to find was the frame was cracked and needed replaced. After discussing with Stevens Feed on how to proceed, they gave us the go ahead to move forward in replacing the frame rails. We had never done a job this big before, but we were up for the challenge.
Challenge 1 was removing the feed tank from chassis. We had never removed anything from a chassis before and didnt know where to start. So we decided to use our new mobile column lifts for the job. This required us to fabricate cross beams that we made out of old frame rails that would sit across from one column to another. After a few set backs we successfully removed the tank. With the tank removed we were now able to start on replacing the rails. The old rails came out no problem, but the next challenge was positioning the new 36ft frame rails into the shop. Thankfully we built our shop with larger garage doors we were able to drive the rails in long ways with the fork lifts next to the chassis. Now it was time to drill holes. This was very time consuming and took a few days to complete. With the holes drilled next came cutting the flanges down on the front of the new frame rails and cutting out the rear section of the rails so that the lower auger assembly would fit. After getting the new rails bolted back together it was ready for sandblasting and painting. Gordon's Painting & Detailing did a great job for us. Once the chassis was back we installed the freshly overhauled engine and transmission back into the truck. Overall the project came together great and we enjoyed the challenge. Here are some pictures of the project.

What difference a year can make! A year ago today the groundwork officially started for the new shop, now today the job is complete and we’ve been moved over for 7 weeks! Its been a long time coming but we are so greatful to finally be in our new building. After years of township meets, planning and lots of prayers we our so thankful for the way God has guided our path through this long and stressful process. He has proven himself to be a part of this journey time and time again. The building really came out better than we could have ever imagined. In the short time we have been here we can definitely tell this was well needed for a long time. We want to extend a special thanks to Cocalico Automotive, Kurtz Bulk Water, Esbenshades Greenhouse, Valley View Towing and Stevens Feed Mill for lending us a hand in our move. Also thanks to the almost 30 years of renting our previous shop from Hurst Excavating. Thanks to Brecknock Builders, Concept Excavating and all who were involved with making this project happen.

We are excited to see where God leads our business in the years to come!

Some of the progress happening over the last few weeks included the main shop floor and washbay floors getting concreted. The concrete apron around the building got poured. The offices, parts room, lunchroom, and locker room were constructed. They are currently running plumbing and electrical. The parking lot is now graded and paving will start soon!

A lot has happened since our last post in March, but the building project is moving right along. In the past few months some of the big items were having the roof and the siding installed, the parking lot has curbing and is now stoned in, the entrance was paved, all the water and sewer lines were ran, inside the building was stoned in, sprinkler system was roughed in, and the cistern was set. We’d like to thank all who are involved with the work that was done so far and are excited to see the next steps take place. The next big things that will take place this week is the floor heat will be ran within the building along with concreting the floors! Then we can start to construct the office, parts room, locker room and lunch room! We are excited to be moving in the fall.

Over the last few weeks the project has really started to take off! Some of the progress included the storm water piping getting installed, the front parking lot got stoned in, the building steel got delivered, and currently they’re working at digging and pouring the footers.
