Hope everybody is doing well and recovering from the storm. We had a great start last week with Lewis and Art visiting the shop for a little sand blasting and lift work. After clearing our own debris from the storm, We started working on our current project, a 1996 Corvette Collectors Edition. We found this car in desperate need of some TLC. Previous owner described symptoms of a spun main bearing. After confirming the cindition, we started the engine swap process yesyerday with goals of making the car roadworthy again. Here are a couple pictures of the GearHead DIY team and project. Stay safe and we are back on normal operating hours with power restored today.

Good Morning fellow GearHeads,

Quick update on the Swap Meet scheduled for 24 October from 8am to 4pm here at GearHeads DIY Garage (134 Plaza Drive, Enterprise, AL).

I have had several discussions with folks excited to come out for this event but not excited about the Enterprise City requirement for a daily vendors license fee of $37.00. This fee, in addition to the lot rental of $30.00 or $35.00 (based on lot size), makes it difficult for folks to attend events like this where most are simply trying to “pay it forward” while recouping a small part of the money spent on parts and accessories. We get it.

The Enterprise City Revenue office is currently relooking the ordnance in hopes of developing a proposal for the City Council to make it easier for events like this to occur in the future. GearHeads DIY Garage will continue working with other interested local businesses, City planners, and the City Revenue Teams to develop a proposal that works better for all involved.

Until then, we remain excited about having this event and are therefore reducing the cost of both lot sizes to a flat $15.00 to offset the cost of the required vendor business license.

With that, I need your help, we currently have four GearHeads signed up to attend the event. We need a minimum of 15 to make this event a success. Please call us at 337-378-8363 or email us at [email protected] to reserve your spot no later than the 17th of October. In the meantime, we will continue to work on planning the event. If we don’t reach 15 GearHead “vendors” we will postpone the event and keep working with all the great folks involved until conditions allow us to plan and conduct another event at a time to be announced.

We appreciate everyone’s interest thus far and the great support received from the Enterprise City Revenue Office personnel.

As promised, we wanted to give this a shot for the Wiregrass community as temperatures cool down and projects heat up.

Quick note to say thanks to everyone that came out to support the ribbon cutting for GearHeads DIY Garage yesterday. Enterprise City leaders, local businesses, and other great folks, thanks again for coming out and making it a great event. We look forward to the road ahead supporting the wiregrass.
