As we look at the American flag we are reminded of the freedoms we enjoy and the sacrifices made by the men and women who have defended them.

On behalf of the sheriff’s office, we wish everyone a safe 4th of July and holiday weekend. Whether you are spending time with family, attending community events, or traveling, please celebrate responsibly.

The American flag represents unity, service, and the enduring spirit of our nation. We are honored to serve this community and are grateful for the trust you place in us each day.

📣Please note that effective July 1, 2026, the fee for certified copies of vital records in Iowa will increase from $15 to $20 per copy. This includes certified copies of birth, death, and marriage records.

The process for obtaining certified copies will remain the same, and the marriage application fee will remain $35.

The additional revenue generated from this fee adjustment will help support increased workload and associated costs at the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

If you have questions regarding certified copies or applications, please contact the County Recorder’s Office.

📢 Palo Alto County Tax Sale Reminder

The Palo Alto County Tax Sale will be held one week from today on Monday, June 15.

⚠️ PLEASE NOTE: Only CASH OR CERTIFIED FUNDS will be accepted for payment of taxes this week.

💳 Payment Options:

1) Online at www.iowatreasurers.org
2) In our office Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
3) Dropbox on the east side of the Courthouse
4)Mail — payments MUST be received by Friday, June 12. We do not recommend mailing payments this close to tax sale.
