This repeat customer’s wife’s 2014 Mercedes-Benz GLA250 stopped by 10-8 Hand Washing and Detailing for a little interior and exterior reset, and honestly, this Mercedes is holding up incredibly well for a 12-year-old vehicle. It was already well cared for, so this wasn’t a rescue mission—it was about bringing back that fresh, clean feeling and sharpening up all the details that make a difference. The paint was thoroughly washed and refreshed, the wheels cleaned up, the glass crystal clear, and the interior received the attention it deserved from the cargo area to the floor mats, seats, door jambs, and all the little places that collect dust and grime over time.

The last few days have felt like an ongoing battle against Mother Nature here at 10-8. One day it’s blazing heat, the next it’s humidity, and today a thunderstorm came rolling in out of nowhere looking to ruin my plans. Fortunately, I had the exterior work wrapped up before the skies opened up and the rain started falling. Timing is everything in this business. The GLA was safely completed, looking sharp, and ready to head back home before the first drops hit the driveway.

This repeat Elmhurst customer brought their 2021 BMW X7 xDrive40i back to 10-8 Hand Washing and Detailing after a Florida road trip, and let’s just say they didn’t come home alone. Judging by the front end, they brought back about half the bug population of Florida with them. The nose, grille, mirrors, windshield, and front bumper were absolutely peppered with bug remains that had plenty of time to bake into the paint during the drive home. Add in the heavy accumulation of brake dust on the wheels—a common trait of many German luxury vehicles—and this BMW was definitely ready for a full reset.

I started with a thorough exterior wash and decontamination process to safely remove the road grime, bug splatter, and embedded contaminants. The wheels received special attention to break down the stubborn brake dust and restore that clean factory appearance. Once the exterior was dialed in, I moved inside where the carpets, cargo area, seating surfaces, door jambs, and all interior surfaces were cleaned and refreshed. The light-colored interior always looks fantastic when it’s properly maintained, and this X7 cleaned up beautifully from front to back.

This 2017 Jaguar F-Pace Prestige tested every ounce of patience I had today. The heat was brutal, but the 77% humidity was downright disrespectful. Between the weather and the amount of work this Jaguar needed, it turned into a full 10-hour marathon. Thankfully, I had my colleague Jimmy from 10-8’s partner company, Rapid Response Professional Detailing, working alongside me, and together we got this beautiful British SUV dialed in exactly the way it deserved.

The process started with a thorough chemical decontamination wash, followed by a clay bar treatment and paint correction to remove defects and maximize gloss before any protection was applied. Once the paint was properly prepped, I installed an 8-year ceramic coating on the paint, exterior plastics, windshield, rear glass, panoramic sunroof, and even the door jambs. The transformation was dramatic, especially on the deep green metallic paint that now looks like it could be poured out of the bottle. One of the areas I’m most proud of is the piano black C-pillars. Those pieces were heavily marred and hazy, but after careful polishing they were brought back to a deep, glossy finish that really completes the look of the vehicle.

The interior wasn’t ignored either. Every surface was cleaned, vacuumed, wiped down, and reset so the cabin matched the condition of the exterior. By the time we wrapped up, the Jaguar looked years newer than when it rolled into the 10-8 garage. Ten hours, gallons of sweat, sore backs, and more than a few complaints about the humidity later, I’d say the results were worth every minute.

This locally owned 2018 Lexus NX300 came into the 10-8 garage needing a serious reset, and I’m not going to sugarcoat it—getting this one clean was a brutal task. The before pictures tell the story. Dirt packed into the carpets, debris hiding in every compartment, grime built up on interior surfaces, and enough forgotten treasures under the seats to make me question humanity. Sleeves were rolled up. Ibuprofen was taken. Feelings were hurt. But quitting isn’t part of the program at 10-8.

I spent hours working through every inch of the interior, extracting dirt from the carpets, cleaning and conditioning the leather, restoring the cargo area, deep cleaning the center console, cup holders, door panels, and all the little places that get ignored until they can’t be ignored anymore. The exterior received the same attention with a thorough hand wash, wheel cleaning, tire treatment, glass cleaning, and paint decontamination to bring back the shine hiding underneath months of daily use.

Is it perfection? No. Some vehicles have lived a little too much life for perfection to be a realistic goal. But this Lexus rolled out of the 10-8 garage in dramatically better condition than when it rolled in, and that’s a result both the owner and I can be proud of. Sometimes detailing isn’t about making a vehicle look brand new—it’s about restoring pride of ownership and giving it a fresh start. Mission accomplished. This Lexus is officially 10-8. 💯

This 2017 Chevy Cruze LT came into the 10-8 garage this week belonging to a new customer and fellow Elmhurst resident who wanted to give their daily driver a well-deserved reset. While the Cruze wasn’t in terrible condition, it had accumulated the usual dirt, dust, road film, and interior debris that slowly takes away from the pride of ownership over time.

I performed a complete interior and exterior detail, paying attention to all the areas that often get overlooked. The carpets were thoroughly vacuumed, the interior surfaces were cleaned and refreshed, and the exterior received a careful hand wash and detail to bring the finish back to life. The transformation may not be dramatic to everyone, but one thing is impossible to miss—the way that blue paint absolutely pops now. The metallic flake is back on display, the paint has much more depth, and the entire car looks cleaner, brighter, and newer.

Another great collaboration right here in Elmhurst! I recently teamed up with Jimmy from Rapid Response Professional Detailing to bring this 2023 Kia Sportage X-Pro Prestige back to its best, inside and out.

We started with a thorough chemical decontamination wash and clay bar treatment to remove embedded contaminants from the paint and properly prepare the surface. After the decontamination process was completed, a thorough one-step paint correction was performed to remove light defects, improve gloss, and maximize the appearance of the finish before protection was applied. Once the paint was properly corrected, we applied a 3-year graphene ceramic coating to the paint and exterior trim. The difference was immediate. The finish gained a deeper gloss, the trim looked richer and darker, and the entire vehicle now has the durable protection and water-beading properties that ceramic coatings are known for.

Inside, we performed a complete interior detail to remove the dirt, dust, and everyday buildup that accumulates over time. From the floor mats and cargo area to the dashboard, seats, door panels, and all the little areas that often get overlooked, every surface was cleaned and refreshed. The end result is an interior that feels fresh, clean, and ready for daily driving again.

This 2021 Subaru Ascent Limited came into the shop showing all the signs of a family vehicle that has been putting in some serious road miles. The front end was absolutely peppered with bug splatter that had bonded itself to the paint, grille, and trim, requiring specialized bug-removal chemicals and plenty of attention to safely break down and remove the mess. Once the exterior was properly cleaned and decontaminated, the deep black paint, chrome accents, and sharp body lines came back to life with a clean, glossy finish that completely transformed the look of this family hauler.

Inside, the Subaru looked exactly like you’d expect a busy family vehicle to look after countless trips, errands, and daily adventures. Dirt, crumbs, dust, and debris had worked their way into the carpets, floor mats, cargo area, and all the little places that get overlooked over time. After a thorough interior detail, every row of seating, the cargo area, door panels, dashboard, and floor surfaces were reset and refreshed. The first vehicle through the garage after vacation was this returning 2018 Toyota RAV4 LE, and it felt great to be back at it! I’ve been detailing this RAV4 every year for the past four years, and that’s one of the things I love most about this business—building long-term relationships and helping customers keep their vehicles looking their best year after year. While this Toyota is well cared for, a full annual reset was in order. The interior received a thorough vacuuming, wipe-down, and cleaning of all the areas that collect dust, dirt, and debris over the course of a busy year. The exterior was hand washed, decontaminated, wheels and tires cleaned, windows polished, and the paint brought back to a clean, glossy finish that really makes this Magnetic Gray Metallic paint pop in the sunlight.

After a little time away to recharge the batteries, I’m back, refreshed, energized, and ready to get back to work.
