Truma North America Truma is a premium solutions partner to the outdoor recreation community. Upon returning home after WWII, Philipp Kreis opened a language school in Munich.

The lack of central power in the post-war period posed a major problem for evening courses, giving him the idea of going into gas light production. Due to the increasing demand for gas lights, Philipp found himself producing and selling them in large quantities in a very short period of time. On October 27, 1949, he registered his trade under the company name Truma. The company was named for then

US president Harry S. Truman, whom the company’s founder Philipp Kreis very much admired due to the instrumental role he played in restoring Germany to an industrial nation. Truma is Europe’s leading RV system supplier. Truma has a long tradition of supplying high-quality, RV components for more than 65 years. To build a stronger future for the RV industry, we have to show up where the next generation is listening. 🚐✨

At SCNC 2026 in Toronto, we did exactly that, thanks to the incredible volunteerism of Jamie Russell, owner of JR's Mobile Service in Kingston, ON. Jamie wears many hats—he’s a small business owner, a certified technician, an instructor, a mentor, and an absolute champion for RV trade training.

Why is it so critical for us to be at events like Skills Canada? Because that’s where the students and their primary influencers—teachers and parents—are exploring the future. Many educators we spoke with had no idea that RV service is a recognized skilled Red Seal trade, and many students were seeing a travel trailer up close for the very first time!

By volunteering his time on the floor, Jamie helped introduce thousands of people to the high-tech skills and expertise required to keep families safe on the road.

Yesterday, representatives from the Canadian Recreational Vehicle Association and met with Carlos Vanderloo, Minister (Economic), and Nicola Waterfield, First Secretary (Economic and Trade Policy), at the Canadian Embassy in Washington, DC.

We valued the opportunity to highlight the economic impact of the RV industry and stress the importance of balanced and fair trade practices between Canada and the United States that have long supported manufacturers, dealers, suppliers, and the millions who currently enjoy the RV lifestyle.

We would like to sincerely thank Carlos and Nicola for taking the time to meet with our Industry and we look forward to continuing our discussions.
