Quite the lineup in the shop this past week.
We had a beautiful air-cooled Porsche 911 in — a 993 Cabriolet, the last of the truly air-cooled 911s and one of the most sought-after generations Porsche ever built. Right alongside it, a classic navy W123 Mercedes that still looks sharp after all these years, plus a BMW 750Li rounding things out.
There's something special about a 40-year-old Mercedes and a collector-grade Porsche sitting in the same bays as modern German iron. Good reminder of why we do this — these aren't just cars to us.
And we're not only playing with the classics. We're in the middle of a serious job on a 2018 Mercedes GLS550 right now: replacing the right-side turbocharger, which on this platform means dropping the entire engine and transmission assembly out of the vehicle to reach it. Not a job for the faint of heart, and not one most shops around here will touch. Pics of that one coming soon.
Old or new, air-cooled or twin-turbo — if it's German or European, this is where it belongs.

🔧 When the job calls for it, we go all in.

This week we tackled a 2009 Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG — one of the most legendary AMG engines ever built. The M156 6.3L V8 is an absolute masterpiece, and this one needed some serious preventive attention before known issues turned into catastrophic ones.

Using our brand new state-of-the-art hydraulic lift table, we dropped the entire engine, transmission, subframe, and suspension as a complete assembly — the right way to do this job.

Here's what we did:
✅ Cylinder head bolt replacement — a known M156 failure point. When these bolts break, the damage is devastating. We replaced them proactively.
✅ Hydraulic valve lifter bucket replacement — worn lifter buckets destroy camshaft lobes. Catching this early saved this owner from an engine that would have been beyond economical repair.
✅ Front timing cover & valve cover gaskets — original gaskets were brittle and leaking. Replaced completely.
✅ Fresh spark plugs all around.

This is exactly the kind of job most shops won't touch — or don't know how to do properly. At BenzTech, the M156 is a platform we know well. We have the equipment, the knowledge, and the respect for these engines that they demand.

If you own a CLK63, CLS63, E63, or any M156-powered AMG and haven't had these preventive repairs done — call us. Don't wait until the engine tells you it's too late.

The 1st Annual BenzTech Euro CarFest is in the books. 🏁
Honestly we didn't know what to expect for year one. What we got was around 200 people, guests driving in from as far as Chicago, Fishers IN, Cadillac MI and Kalamazoo, and a car lineup that blew us away — McLaren, Brabus G-Wagon, Porsche 911 GT3, Lotus Elise, Audi R8, classic Mercedes SLs, a VW Beetle, BMW M cars and so much more.
The band played, Nelson's BBQ was a hit, the LIQUI MOLY swag table stayed busy and the t-shirts were gone before noon.
This community showed up in a big way and we are genuinely grateful. Thank you to everyone who came out, drove from out of town, or shared the event with a friend. And a huge thank you to our sponsors:
