Today’s View that Doesn’t Suck, an area that needs little introduction. St Anthony sand dunes is still one of my top favorite riding destinations. This is not far from Egin Lake on the south side of the dunes. This was over Memorial Day weekend a few years ago.

This isn’t an RV park, but it is a designated camping area and we liked it very much and I felt like mentioning it. This is Salmon Meadows Campground, located north of Conconully, Washington. I’ve met two different types of people when you mention Conconully: most have never heard of it, the rest either are from there, grew up spending most of their time there, or have cabins there. It doesn’t seem like there’s much in between. Anyway, we managed to secure a site up there Memorial Day weekend after the spot I had originally planned on didn’t pan out. They do have potable water there and the trail access is wonderful. There were multiple large groups but the area was so spread out that we felt pretty secluded. It was a long gravel road to get up to the site, some people aren’t huge fans of that but it was just another day out of the office for us. (Once you’ve dragged a trailer up to Manastash campground everything else is easy peasy lol).

It’s an easy site to find on OnX, or you just drive to Conconully and just keep going until you can’t any longer.

On today’s View that Doesn’t Suck, this is one of those iconic places that IYKYK. It’s a right of passage of anyone who has been down to Hurricane Utah. During Takeover it’s a pretty popular/busy trail and not super normal to not find anyone parked at the top of the waterfall for pictures. We actually ran into a big group from Addiction Powersports on this run. There are two ways to get into the falls. You can do an out and back from Torquerville or you can run a loop from the Gun Club down through Rattlesnake gulch to the falls then out through Torquerville. We’d recommend the run down from the gun club, just pay attention to your route as there are a ton of trails in and around the area (shocking, right?).

Happy Thursday and another round of Noteworthy RV Parks. This one is just an all around favorite. Idaho Dunes RV park. They have sites to fit all ranges of vehicles and toys. The site we had fit our truck and toyhauler, both cars, and there was room for more. Our neighbors had a big class A, a big V8 sand car, and multiple side by sides. The direct dune access via sand trails from the park puts you out at the flagpole right at the edge of the big dunes two minutes from the park. The park itself has a great little store, a slough through the park which people can swim/float in the summer time, easy to get in and out of, and they have a massive overflow first come first serve area. They offer helicopter tours of the dunes and they rent paddle tires. It’s not far from the town of St Anthony or Rexburg if you need any sort of supplies/food. There is also a food truck there with THE BEST breakfast sandwich on the face of the planet. When we were there Memorial Day one of the local RV dealers had some models set up there to check out. The staff is friendly, the area is amazing, and the park definitely caters to duners/offroaders.

Also this is not one of ours. Apparently I do not have a picture of our RV site. This was our neighbors. They had two trailers along with their motorhome and a truck and all the toys in their site and we were not crowded in the least. It’s worth mentioning that we had reserved the minimum amount of nights even though we knew we weren’t going to stay the whole time due to work. The people next to us had decided to stay longer but their site was reserved, so we spoke to the park and asked if we could give them our site for the remainder of the time we had reserved since we were heading out. They told us no problem, so it was a win win all the way around.

Here’s a View that Doesn’t Suck that is near and dear to my heart. Priest Lake is one of those places that gets under your skin and doesn’t leave. It’s hard to explain, but anyone who’s been to the crown jewel of Idaho knows the feeling. It’s not that far from the house, only about 45-50 minutes, but feels like another world. Even when we’ve been there on business (delivering RVs, equipment, etc) it still feels like a vacation. We’ve snowmobiled, dirt biked, off-roaded, UTV’d, hiked, and picked huckleberries here for years. Sometimes we just go to the lake and sit on the shore.

Week two of my RV Parks worth Noting. We are moving a bit farther south. I’d like to mention Sun Outdoors North Moab. The first time we visited Moab we had planned on just boondocking up off Sand Flats road. Unfortunately it was unusually hot that October, mid to high 90s, and we decided we needed to be somewhere we could run the AC all day, so on the drive down I started looking for a park with availability that could fit the truck, toyhauler, and both cars. Sun Outdoors North Moab had a spot, so we snagged it. The park isn’t a large park, but has nice mature trees and is only five minutes from Arches and five minutes from downtown Moab. They do have a pool and small store, laundry on site, and there is a pretty decent restaurant right at the entrance. From this park you can walk, bike, or ride down into town. It’s an easy in and out with a trailer, and does have quiet hours that people are respectful of. This park has a big variety of visitors from hikers and bikers to national park goers to off roaders. We stayed here a second time once again after changing our plans due to weather, and then ended up extending our stay a couple days. They tried their best to accommodate us but unfortunately our particular site had been booked but they did some rearranging and got us another large site and moving was quite easy. There are several Sun Outdoors parks in the Moab area, we found this one out of necessity but now it’s my go-to park.

In this picture the sites look closer together than they actually are. Also something to note, we know RV parks don’t allow people to work on their vehicles in the park. But when I broke an axle on Poison Spider we tucked my car up out of the way and swapped out the axle. Nothing major, but nobody said anything. I figured they understood.
