Just completed the next custom part on the new 3D printer. I needed a "bushing" for my rifle rack since the hooks were too wide for the lever action rifles. These rifles sit in the rack with the ammo tube on the hook since the fore ends are so short. So I had a concept, put it on paper, drew it in CAD (learning curve is pretty steep on that) and printed a prototype. Came out pretty good, so 3 more are printing in high quality overnight.

For father's day Sue got me a 3D printer for the shop. After setting it up and calibrating it, I printed the first item that everyone prints first, the "benchy". It is the little red tugboat, not sure why this is what everyone prints, but I followed along. Then Bradley wanted a chain tensioner for his motorcycle, so I found a file online and printed one. I sent the file to the printer from my office and it fired up and went to work. The most recent items were stackable shelves that I can put my reloading dies on. There were no files online, so I downloaded a free CAD program and started watching videos. What you see in the pictures is my first attempt to design something and then print it. Came out exactly as I had imagined.

Here is a PSA for this month. If you notice a bulge on the outside of the sidewall of your tire, get it looked at immediately. I noticed a slight bulge on the rear tire this week and when I dismounted the tire it revealed significant damage to the bead. This was most likely done when the tire was installed just before I bought the car last Nov. I just started driving it now that the salt is gone and noticed it after only about 200 miles. All good now, but had that blown out, that would have really SUCKED!

Out with the old and in with the new. Upgrading and consolidating from 2 boxes into one large tool chest. The black craftsman box I bought on Black Friday about 20 years ago. I’m going to pass it over to Bradley and the red cart to Hannah’s boyfriend.

Last weekend we were teased with some really warm weather. Almost got the Camaro out, but then it snowed so I put it back under the cover. However, it did force me to finish up the last few items before summer cruising starts. Installed the exhaust control module, mounted and wired the radar detector, new truck release button, coolant flush, changed the diff and transmission fluids and added the chin splitter. Hoping for an early spring.
