THIS 2014 CHEVY TRAVERSE LTZ WAS DROPPED OFF FOR FOUR NEW 20” GENERAL TIRES, AND FOUR NEW TPMS SENSORS.

Right away, there was an issue with the over tightened rear lug nuts.
Even the Matco wouldn’t break them loose.

Once I got all the wheels off, and started breaking them down, that’s when I discovered they were going to need some cleaning , as expected.

There was quite a bit of minor corrosion on the fl**ges, two were mixed with bead sealer, two had Permatex on them.

THE VALVE HOLES AND CENTER BORES WERE CORRODED AS WELL.

ONCE EVERYTHING WAS CLEANED AND PAINTED, THEN I MOUNTED AND BALANCED THEM.

The tires balanced nicely, rquiring very little weight for 20” tires.

GOOD TO GO!

A LONGTIME GREAT FRIEND STOPPED BY TODAY TO GET THESE MONSTERS BALANCED. BALANCED ONLY.

It turned out to be a change in plans.

I didn’t know that he planned on running them without inner tubes.

He had one bead already mounted on each wheel when he brought them in, which actually worked out alright, as all I had to do was install the all metal VS944 valves, mount the top beads, then inflate them.

As flimsy as these monsters were, him adding a helping hand made things much easier.

WE GOT IN ALL DONE IN THE SHORT TIME I HAD HIM SCHEDULED.

THIS 1999 FORD E350 WAS DROPPED OFF FOR FOUR NEW 16” MICHELIN TIRES.

For the most part, it was a pretty clean job, with some minor fl**ge rust, and back mounting surface rust, which was easily cleaned.

All four tires balanced nicely.

THESE ABSOLUTELY MINT 1975 PONTIAC TRANS AM “SNOWFLAKE” WHEELS 15X8, WERE DROPPED OFF FOR A BRAND NEW SET OF 255/60-15 B.F. GOODRICH RADIAL

The twenty one year old, old tires hardly had any miles on them, but it was definitely time.

AS I’VE SAID MANY TIMES, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU’RE GETTING INTO UNTIL YOU ACTUALLY DEMOUNT THE OLD TIRES.

IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE, WAY BACK WHEN THE TIRES WERE MOUNTED, THE TECHNICIAN MOST LIKELY USED A SOAPY SOLUTION, NOT PURE TIRE L**E.

PURE TIRE L**ES HELP PREVENT CORROSION.

As you can see on a couple of these reconditioned wheels, the corrosion is pretty severe.

THIS 2025 HONDA CR-V WAS DROPPED OFF FOR FOUR NEW GENERAL RT45’s.

The customer’s two daughters and a girlfriend were taking a road-trip to Florida Friday, so we decided it best to replace the tires.

The wheel fl**ges were like out-of-the-box new, however, the back mounting surfaces and center bores had some serious corrosion, corrosion so bad on the rear center bores that it started eating away at the aluminum.

THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO A YEAR OLD HONDA!

I wire brushed the center bores, then painted the openings.
I wire brushed the hubs, then applied a thin coat of anti seize.

He call and talked to a woman about scheduling a tire repair.

THERE ARE NO WOMEN HERE SCHEDULING APPOINTMENTS.

When he called me this morning, I told him that if he could be here at noon SHARP, I’d squeeze him in.

I only had a 15 minute window, and he had a 2025 Mazda, so I knew there’d be no cleaning involved. He was here by noon, and out 15 minutes later.

MY SON’S IN-LAWS CAME IN FOR FOUR NEW GENERAL RT45’s THIS MORNING, FOR THEIR 2011 SUBARU.

Six years ago, I installed four new General’s on this vehicle.

I couldn’t believe how well my paint held up.

Regardless of the perfect condition of my paint, I always go through the motions of a complete repaint.

The only corrosion was on the back mounting surfaces.

The valve holes were like brand new.

Because of the vehicle’s age, we installed new TPMS sensors.

Tires balanced nicely.

Last Thursday we temporarily mounted a used tire that the customer had in his garage, in case of an emergency.

THIS 2012 HYUNDAI VELOSTER CAME IN WITH A SLOW LEAK.

Like most older vehicles, it’s never a quick simple repair.

This turned out to be a major wheel clean, including fl**ges, back mounting surface, and the valve hole.

There was so much corrosion and bead sealer that it actually created a serious air loss issue.

BY THE WAY, IT WASN’T A SLOW LEAK AS ORIGINALLY MENTIONED.
