🚐 Keeping your RV holding tanks clean is all about habits!
I cleaned an RV a few months ago, and recently got a call from the owner about having the tanks cleaned again.
After talking with him about his routine, I believe two things may be contributing to the problem:
1️⃣ Not using enough water
2️⃣ Dumping the tanks too often
He told me he dumps his tanks every day “to keep ahead of things.” It sounds like a good idea—but there’s a catch.
💧 Holding tanks generally empty better and more completely when they are fuller. When you dump a tank that’s only partially full, there may not be enough water volume or flow to carry all of the solids and residue out of the tank.
If you’re also using too little water, that can make the problem even worse. Less water + frequent dumping can leave more material behind in the tank, where it can build up over time.
The goal isn’t simply to dump as often as possible. Good tank habits are about using plenty of water and allowing the tank to fill before dumping when practical.
Sometimes, a small change in how you use your tanks can make a BIG difference in keeping them clean! 👍
