Who remembers this RV? The owner of the RV reached out here asking for recommendations on a local collision center to complete repairs on their RV. Thank you to all who tagged Pittsburgh Performance on that post. The customer reached out to us as a result. She informed me that it had been at a local Chevrolet dealership for a few weeks. She was quoted around $13,500 to have the repairs completed, but she still had not received clear answers on a plan to get it fixed.
When she reached out to us, we told her we could absolutely handle the repairs and could send a tow truck today, free of charge. She agreed to proceed with our services. There was a balance of $200 for the vehicle to be released to us, because they said they needed to take the bumper off to write the estimate. As you can see in the photo, the parts were scattered in their parking lot. We paid the bill for her, picked up the RV and brought it to our shop for repair.
From start to finish, it took us about two weeks to complete. We mixed our own paint to match the old 1990's pin striping, and the final result was perfect. The total cost to our shop was about $7,500.
This post is not to bash another shop or dealership. I want to clairfy that "taking your vechile to the dealership" is not always the best option. I’ve included a photo of the dealership’s rates to demonstrate that their costs are nearly double what we charge. Insurance companies often push for customers to use certain shops because of contractual relationships that benefit the insurance company, not the customer. We encourage you to get a second or even a third opinion. Our estimates are free. Just give us call us at 412-233-6300.
